I have a 9 month old baby and breastfeed. He nurses 4 times a day. I had problems with ovulation prior to getting pregnant and had to do fertility treatment with clomid. I took the mini pill up until a week ago and have still not had a period since I got pregnant in June 2010. My question for y'all is how long did it take you to have a period after having a baby, nursing, and or taking the mini pill. I would like to get pregnant naturally this time and would like to continue to nurse for as least until my son is a year old. Thanks in advance for any advice.
There's no solid answer out there for you. I nurse and am on the mini-pill, and no period yet for me. I know some people who nurse still get it back by 3-4 months, but a friend of mine didn't get hers until 15 months pp.
Try to relax and just go with the flow. Maybe you'll have a little surprise on your hands sometime soon! Good luck.
I just quit nursing three weeks ago and I still haven't had my period. I went back on normal BC last week. I'm terrified of my first period, I hear its a doozy.
Anyway. My Dr said that you still ovulate, even while nursing. So if you don't see your period, I wouldn't stress, that doesn't mean you aren't hatching those eggs.

It's incorrect that breastfeeding moms ovulate even without a period. It's possible to ovulate before your first pp period and get pregnant but you don't ovulate month after month with no period. You can however have a period every month and not be ovulating. Even though I started my periods 8 weeks pp, I was worried that I wasn't ovulating so to find out, I started charting. If it were me, I would call my doctor and see if there's anything more I could do to try to jump start everything.
I got my period back at 4 months my son was fully breastfed at the time. At 6 months he refused the breast so was moved onto formula and was having 3 + solids a day. we decided to try for #2 and are now 7 weeks along, my cycles were not regular at all so it was a bit of good luck.
It's different for everyone. My best friend breast feeds and got pregnant with number two when she skipped on mini pill. I had to stop completely and start taking metformin again in order to get my period back.
It can take six months or longer after breastfeeding for things to normalize.

Since having my son...I haven't posted much on the March 2011 board (sorry ladies). I got my period exactly 3 months after I had my son and I am still breastfeeding him (Lucky me)!

I got mine while BF when she was 7 1/2 months old. Totally unexpected but explained the excessive irritability I had been feeling the week prior.
We are still BF and I have had 2 periods. Just chiming in
