Did you or are you packing a Daddy bag too?

Hello Ladies!

My DH took his Daddy Boot camp class a few days ago, and when he came home he asked if I had packed his stuff with mine or what should he do.  I hadn't really thought about it, but should I throw a few things in for him or should I have him pack his own bag separate?  Are you doing this too or are you sending him home to do his thing and then come back to the hospital? (if you're close enough that is..)

TIA!! Smile

  • I'm just throwing his stuff in with mine.

  • We live really close to the hospital so I'm not toooo stressed about if I forget something, but Id rather SO not have to leave me at all for the time we're there. (well, not right there by my side but the building anyway) but hes a terrible packer so I'm throwing in a change or clothes for him, some snacks, and his toiletries with my stuff.

  • We shared, he didn't bring much. He showered at home when he went to feed the rabbit, just brought some comfy clothes to sleep in and a couple clean shirts.

  • I told DH he's responsible for packing his bag.  I may throw a change of clothes for him in my bag though just in case.  We live about an hour from the hospital, so he won't go home until after LO's first night.  Even then, he probably won't be gone long.

  • My DH is bringing his "gym bag." He always has it packed with his toiletries anyway, so all he has to do is throw in some clothes. He knows what he needs better than I do.

  • I am just going to put his stuff in my bag.  I got him some travel sized shower stuff, and all he need is a few changes of clothing, so it all fit.

  • I'm just putting some stuff in my bag. At our birthing class, they said if I wanted to labor in the shower for pain management that DH should have his swim suit. They won't let me go in the shower without someone else. So I'll have that, some pjs, and a change of clothes for DH. He can shower when we get home, lol!

  • We'll pack everything together. And if we end up having to stay longer than before, I think we'll have clothes laid out for a family member to pick up for us when the family member goes home to let our dog out.
  • No.  He is going to go back and forth between the hospital and home because we have a son at home.

He didn't pack anything the first time, either.

  • My birthing class Hospital Bag Check List included Dad items.  So I packed his shave kit, pajamas, bathing suit (he can join me in the birth tub as long as he's not naked), and a couple changes of underwear and clothes.  I also packed a big ziploc bag of snacks for him all in the same bag as me and baby.

  • bless you ladies who are packing for him...he can throw it in the same bag seems silly to bring two but I'm so not packing for him
  • He has his own bag. Mine has my robe in it so there isn't any room for his clothes, otherwise we would just share. I feel kind of silly bringing two backpacks for us AND a diaper bag, but there just wasn't a way to make it all fit.

  • my husband has packed his own bag. Partly because he works nights and wants to make sure that if he has to come home right away then he knows he's got all his stuff and all he has to do is worry about me.

  • Well, he's a big boy so he can pack his own bag. Also, we're only 20 minutes from the hospital so he went back and forth.

  • I'm packing him just  a few things, like basketball shorts and a tee shirt. We live close to the hospital & he will be coming home to take care of our dogs, so he can dress himself & shower at home.

  • Since we have other LOs this time around, I'm going to pack a back up t-shirt and a back up pair of shorts (we are in a very warm climate), but he will be packing his own overnight bag before we leave. We haven't decided whether he will stay at the hospital or come back home to our house and put our boys down for bed, etc. So that will give us both a little bit more freedom w/o the excess luggage.
  • His bag is done and packed, lord knows what that man would wear around the hospital if I let him pack it himself.

He would have his computer, video games, and snacks and maybe..maybe a clean shirt and his Skyrim pj pants.....It would be terrible...Indifferent

  • We had three bags: His, mine, and baby's.  Worked great.  Make sure he takes snacks to eat.  He is a man and will complain of hunger at some point.  He showered twice since we were there four days (Labor Friday, had her early saturday, went home Monday around 2ish).  Don't forget charges for phones.  I also took our white noise maker so we could sleep without hearing noise outside of our room.

  • i  honestly dont   remember if hubby showered at the hospital, or if he went home to  shower  and change.  we dont live tooo far frrom the hospital,  so he will probably go home to change and shower, and spend a  bit of time with dc#1. i slept a lot the day after. labor wasnt too lonng.

  • I would try to fit it all in one bag. When we were leaving the hospital we had our shared bag, a pillow, gifts from friends and oh, the baby.  Since I wasn't supposed to carry anything DH had to do it all and I was glad we didn't have anything more to pack up.

  • This time I don't think he'll be spending the night at the hospital with me, so he won't need anything, but last time he threw some things into my bag. Mainly just a clean shirt, underwear, socks and a toothbrush.

  • He just threw a few things in with mine.  It was not a big deal or something that I needed to plan.

  • Huh-- that's a good question. My H is definately packing his own stuff, but we haven't decided if we'll share a bag or each have our own.  We're planning on him staying at the hospital with me and I don't really want him running to get stuff.  However, we only live 5 minutes from the hospital and my parents will be hanging out at our house and taking care of our diabetic cat so they can always bring us what we need.

  • My husband packed his own and keeps it in his car.
  • We will most likely each have our own bags. That way he isn't having to root through all of the stuff to find whatever he's looking for, and he'll have a place to put whatever he wants.

I would prefer he stay with me, we live about 30-45 minutes from the hospital.

  • No, we didn't pack a daddy bag. My husband stayed for my labor, but my husband also had to work and he is not a " I can sleep anywhere" person, so staying overnight wasn't an option after the delivery. But he did spend as much time as he could with me and our daughter as possible.

  • Yes he'll bring a small backpack worth of stuff for himself.
