Success after IF

My good sleeper is screaming at bedtime, WWYD?

A bit of brief background...

DD got food poisoning New Year's Eve and was up all night vomiting - she threw up twice in her bed (cleaned up #1, she asked to go back to bed, laid her back down and she got sick again).  She slept on  the floor that night and then in our bed the following night because she was still very weak and snugly.

She went back to sleeping in her own bed with just a few tears and did so without problems until this week.  Since Monday she has been SCREAMING when we lay her down and will not stop crying.  Last night I let her go to sleep in our bed (while I took a shower in the adjoining bathroom) then transferred her to her bed an hour later, where she slept the rest of the night.

I am not opposed to CIO but we haven't had to do that for so long, and in fact I NEVER had to with her - the girl LOVES her bed!  Also, the screaming is waking up DS down the hall, and he just started sleeping well - something I don't want to mess with...

Do you have any explanations for this or experiences with something similar??

Any advice???

I can't understand why she is doing this after being such a good sleeper for almost 2? years.

Re: My good sleeper is screaming at bedtime, WWYD?

  • Is it possible she has an ear infection?
  • Loading the player...
  • I don't think so, but that would be a good explanation...

She lays down for naps - just not bedtime...

  • You can't do CIO with a 2.5 year old.  A 2.5 year old is old enough to remember being left terrified and panicked sobbing in bed - and to be traumatized by that.  You'd make it worse.  Help her through this - keep comforting and reassuring her - and it will pass.
    Wheee!
