Just got an email stating that since I have not yet joined A m a z o n Prime, my free A m a z o n Mom benefits will now expire on Jan. 24th. I think that's ridiculous.

Apparently my diaper and wipes subscription discount will be going from 30% to 5%, since my Mom benefits expired in the fall. I'm pissed.

I'm so confused by Amazon that I've never purchased a thing from them.

Was it part of the terms and conditions you agreed to when signing up with A mazon Mom? Or are you upset because A mazon prime comes with a fee or something?

Amazon Mom was a free program for moms buying certain baby items. It gave you an additional discount of 15%. That coupled with the Subscribe and Save would give me a total of 30% off diapers. I was temporarily receiving free Prime benefits and was completely understood when those expired because that program is $79/mo and I got it for free for about 6 months. But now, the discount is changing 30% to 20% with S&S, but since I didn't sign up to extend my Prime benefits and pay $79, I am now losing my Amazon mom discount as well. To me, those are separate programs and they are trying to push me to purchase the prime shipping benefits.

This is so strange. We must all be getting different emails from Amazon about the Mom thing. My email says that my discount is going from 30% to 20%. It says that 5% of the savings is the Subscribe and Save discount, and the other 15% is for "Amazon Mom members who are earning free shipping benefits or have an active Amazon Prime membership." I wonder if mine is only dropping to 20% because I paid for my Amazon Prime membership before joining Amazon Mom. Very confusing.

Exactly. because you already have amazon prime, your discount will be 20%. but if you don't have amazon prime you only get a 5% S&S discount. the 15% you will no longer get. so yes, basically there is no point to amazon mom if you don't have prime. well, i guess i 5% point, but you can get diapers cheaper elsewhere.

Like I said, too confusing!!! Plus, I'm chronically sleep deprived so comparing per diaper prices across multiple sites vs the store etc is sort of beyond my mental capacity right now. We're lucky if we have diapers.

I know very little about Amazon Moms/Amazon Prime, but from what I've seen, I'm confused about the real benefits. When you compare Amazon vs. Amazon Prime prices for merchandise, the Amazon Prime prices are higher, as in almost (but not quite) high enough to be the price on Amazon + the extra for shipping. Am I wrong? What am I missing?

Yep, this is exactly what I'm experiencing. It's still worth it if you consider the cost of 2 day shipping vs. regular ground, but I've been disappointed. Prime used to be awesome but it's going downhill fast.

It really depends on what you're buying. For a lot of items, the non-Prime price is lower but the shipping is sometimes pretty outrageous so it is worth it to just pay the higher price and get the item sooner. Plus, if you do a lot of online shopping the $79 becomes negligible in the end.

This. I buy EVERYTHING on Amazon (and am a member of prime). It's worth it to me to not have to haul big a$$ boxes of diapers/wipes etc. around with my LO in tow. I have already made the $79 per year pay off just because of the amount of stuff we get from them (baby food, diaper genie refills, etc.). I've also found that prices are cheaper... For example, a new baby gate is coming tomorrow that was $30 less than in any store I've seen. I still heart amazon even if they did make my discount 20% instead of 30%!

Ditto. So much more convenient than actual shopping...plus most things have reviews. Add also that you pay no tax. My ups guy gets quite a workout delivering UPS packaged to my house!

I will say that Amazon Prime saved my hiney this Christmas with the super-fast shipping. And thank you, you-know-who, for letting me use your account! I guess I don't do enough on-line shopping to make it worthwhile. I can totally see it's value if I did though.
