I have heard a lot on the news lately about avoidiing tylenol in children as much as possible. My little girl has her 4 months shots today. Last time she ran a low grade fever in the morning for two days, and I gave her tylenol and she did great. Is it better to let the fever go to establish immunity to vaccines??
What have you ladies been doing?
Re: Tylenol or No Tylenol?? 4 month shots today
I went ahead and gave it to DD when she spiked a 102.5 fever two days after she got her shots. I was told not to give it preemptively, but just give it if she had a fever. Her fever was accompanied by screaming so I would have done anything possible to get it down.
That said, if there isn't much discomfort, I tend to try and let it run its course (101 or below) since I know it is related to shots and not illness.
I give her the Tylenol
My daughter just had her 4 months vaccines last night.
I space mine out though...I don't like the fact of giving 3 at once so doctor gave one last night. I will go back in 10 days for the other 2.
I did this for her 2 months vaccines as well.
She had no issues with the 2 month vaccines; so I assumed that she wouldn't with these either.
Doctor said that actually its more likely that she would get a fever from the second round. And to be on the safe side give her a does of Tylenol (or whatever store brand acetimoniphin sorry i know i spelled wrong)
When we got home last night I thought she was a bit warm very slightly...so I gave her one dose to be on safe side - before it got or if it would have gotten worse.
she was fine this morning.
