38 weeks and still no progress

Went to my OB today and the baby has yet to drop - not dilation and cervix is still long and closed - they were going to originally not let me go a day past 39 weeks due to fluid levels and the baby's heart rate being all over the place - but since he is holding steady they pushed my induction back to Jan. 24th - which is only two days before my due date - they said it is better if my cervix softens a bit before induction - or else I might be in the hospital for days waiting for labor to start.  So I have another OB appointment on the 18th - and I am hoping for some progress - any kind of progress.  All I want is for my little man to be here and healthy.  I guess as long as he is doing good in there - there is no need to rush him out.  I am just frustrated because every week it is something else - one week he is okay and the next he is not - this surely has not been an easy pregnancy - thanks for letting me vent.

Re: 38 weeks and still no progress

  • Hopefully you have some progress soon! I'm almost 41 weeks and still completely closed with no effacement. They won't induce til 41.5 wks bc they want to give my body time to try on its own. It's frustrating and worrisome for sure.

  • I haven't had the problems you have, but I'm also 38 weeks with absolutely no progress.  I know it doesn't necessarily indicate when I'm going into labor, but it does make me anxious when it will happen.

I hope you have some progress soon and have a healthy baby.
