  • Zyrtec & a netipot works really really well for me.

  • I like Claritin but it has the opposite effect on me as far as sleep.  It didn't make me drowsy but I'd wake up at like 2am every night while taking it.

This.  I have also added Mucinex to my regimen at my doctor's recent recommendation.  Her advice is that it will help me to avoid sinus infections as it helps drain the mucus out.

  • Zyrtec.  I used to take Claritin religiously (I am allergic to pretty much everything in the air around here), but it eventually stopped working.  Zyrtec has worked pretty well for me.  My cedar allergy isn't too bad, thankfully, but I haven't been bothered by it one bit.

this. although, i try to start using the netipot before i even get stuffy and know allergens are high to keep my sinuses moist (less dry surfaces for allergens to "stick"), and that usually keeps me from even having to take zyrtec.

  • My allergist said that Claritin's the weakest, Allegra's next, and then Zyrtec is the mack daddy.  With this awful cedar I'm taking Zyrtec, Sudafed every 12, and neti pot every day.  With all this, I'm almost functional.

  • If you're into the whole herbal thing, my acupuncturist recommends this:

Cedar is going to be high for the next couple of days or weeks. Try Easy Breather. We are now at Whole Foods, People's, Wheatsville, Live Oak Rx on 5th, Mr. Natural. It is flying off the shelves, which, you know, is cool.
  • I'm taking D-Hist (from People's Pharm) as my histamine blocker and Visine allergy eye drops.  Sudafed PE for my congestion.  And ibuprofen.  I'll probably start taking Mucinex too because I've been super congested today and I don't want to get a sinus infection.

The D-Hist is actually working WONDERS this year and I'm not itchy like I have been in previous years...I just need to get the nasal drainage (or lack thereof) under control.

i used to take allegra-D (12 hr tablets), and i really miss my decongestants. if they didn't screw with milk supply, i'd be taking my decongestants in a heartbeat!

  • Zyrtec.

If you need sinus remedies, I have a whole slew of them!

This, but the Target brand of Zyrtec works far better for me than regular Zyrtec for some reason.  And it's cheaper!

  • If you are really suffering, I recommend getting a prescription for a nasal steroid like flonase.  Really makes a big difference!  You can go to a Minute Clinic or RediClinic instead of getting an appt with your pcp.

  • Almost forgot!  Local honey is supposed to help, too.  We all take a teaspoon of Round Rock Honey everyday.  Don't know how well it works, but it's the tastiest medicine I've ever had :)
