Do you nap when LO naps?

People always say to nap when LO naps but I find it nearly impossible.  Which results in me being exhausted by the time evening rolls around.  I just find that every time LO goes to sleep I am doing laundry, eating, showering, paying bills, etc. and then by the time I'm ready to lay down he wakes up.

Re: Do you nap when LO naps?

  • I can't sleep during the day. At All. I wish I could sneek in a nap here or there, but it doesn't happen, my body won't let it

  • Not really, I have somehow just adjusted to life with very little sleep. I can easily get through the day now with only having slept 4-5 hours, this could never have happened before LO but now it doesn't really bother me at all.

  • Daytime naps do me no good. They make me more tired than I was before.

While he naps I shower, clean, do laundry or other junk around the house. That's WHEN he naps, which isn't often.

  • If I napped when DS napped I would never eat, have clean clothes/diapers, I shower. Right when I think I have all the little house things done and I can relax and some time for myself, it's time to nurse and change diapers!
  • Usually I do, but I'm not feeling as tired this week.  I keep the house clean enough to maintain my sanity.  If I need to nap, I will put off what I can.  I usually shower when DH gets home and eat with one hand at some point during the day!
  • No napping here.. LO sleeps awesome at night (knock on wood), so we aren't tired during the day!

  • No - like everyone else, I do other things - computer, eat, clean, dishes, laundry, workout, etc.   Now he's sleeping much better at night so I'm not really even tired.

  • I wish I could!  He naps well one day and barely at all the next which has been really frustrating.  I too end up doing laundry, washing bottles, cleaning, and trying to squeeze in a shower.  The days where I'm dragging butt he seems not to need/want to nap.  We also have a 2.5 YO and although she naps, they don't seem to nap at the same time.  By the time DH gets home I'm spent!

  • It depends on the day. I did yesterday but today not so much.

  • I hardly ever nap when she does. Part of it is that she is generally such a good sleeper that usually I'm okay for the day if I just go back to sleep for a little bit after her early morning feed, and part of it is that I use her naps to do things for myself- shower, eat, etc.

  • Up until last week I didn't need to. Dd was almost sttn and I was only feeding once or twice so I didn't need the extra sleep. Now she seems to have flopped her days and nights.  She has been up from 11pm-5/6am with little catnaps but mostly cluster feeding or wanting to be snuggled. Then like magic she would fall asleep and I could lay her down and she would sleep from 6-noon with only One feeding lasting 20 min around 9:30. So that stretch has been when I try to get all my sleep in.

  • If I'm tired then I nap. LO doesn't let me put her down when she's sleeping anyway so it's not like I can get much done. My sling just came yesterday so I might be able to get something done now. It worked great yesterday.

  • I wish I could!  DD1 takes one nap a day thats about 1 hr.  Unfortunately DD2 seizes that time for BFing so I only have a few minutes to myself.  I bump while DD2 nurses.  :)

I have mastered eating while holding a baby and I do laundry / house work while wearing DD2 and giving DD1 things to "help" me with  (she's only 19 months).

  • I do in the mornings - We go to bed officially at like 1130-12 at night. Baby girl usually wakes up at 3-330am to eat we finish by 4-430. She wakes up at like 730-8 eats and then we go back to sleep till like 10-1030. Then I am awake for the day and do whatever needs to get done.

  • I try to.  As soon as I close my eyes, he's up!  Then I'm more tired than I started :(

  • I would love to but DD1 (2 YO) keeps me pretty busy and they never seem to be able to nap at the same time.

  • I've struggled to do so because I was cleaning, cooking, doing laundry, etc. After way overdoing it the past two days and completely exhausting myself, DH "commanded" that I rest today and leave the chores for him tonight. I just took a two-hour nap and feel amazing... why haven't I been doing this all along?!

  • I have trouble falling asleep, I sometimes feel on edge about when she will wake up next or if she will even sleep well and whether or not I will have to feed/change her soon.

Today I somehow managed two short 45 min naps. I think it's because it caught up with me.

  • I never have, not even with my first... I am just not a day napper.  Now, with four...it's not even a thought!
