DS did a week-long basketball camp one summer. He had fun but there wasn't anything good in our price range last summer. I hadn't really thought about it yet for this summer.

No, we all hang together in the summer, pool, beach, friends. We don't do any camps. I work at home, so I have a mother's helper/babysitter come a couple days a week for a few hours so I can get some work done. NOt sure how things are going to go this summer with #3 coming in July.
Not sure. I'm sure they'll do week-long day camp type stuff for part of the summer. And the town I grew up in had a 1/2 day program that did a lot of camp activities from 9-12, so hopefully we'll have something like that for them to go to. I never went to sleepaway camp that was longer than a week (and that was in like 7th-8th grade) so that's probably the most they'll do as well.
Yes, starting the summer after Kindergarten. Not sure which ones yet - week/two week long ones supporting various interests, I suppose. When he is older we will have him do sleepaway camp, too. I think it is a good growing experience.

We have to keep TB in school at least part-time, or he risks losing his spot for the Fall. So, ML said she wants to try ballet camp. I'm not sure of the schedule, but the cost seemed pretty reasonable.
Yes- We have done day camp a day or two a week. My five year old gets bored at home some long. He loves school so camp is a fun extension of that. I don't know if my 3 year old will do one this summer. There isn't much available for age but definitely the summer after.
I am the one if the only sahms I know in my area that did not send my 4yo to camp last summer. Nearly everyone around here does. I didn't bc I look forward to the summers to chill at the pool, take day trips, and spend a lot of time with my kids. During the school year between school and activities there isn't much time left for exploring. We take a vacation for a week and visit my parents at the beach for at least another week so I feel like there is plenty to do. DD (5) may do one week of horse camp this year bc she is begging to, but otherwise I won't be doing camp unless they are really wanting to, and even then not for weeks and weeks.
Yeah, they do VBSs and then I usually let them pick 1-2 more so we break up the summer with a week or two home, a week of camp, then home, etc. I really want to find DD an art camp this summer. No idea what they boys will want since I am pretty sure there aren't any Star Wars or Lego or Wii camps around.
Both kids did VBS for a week from 9-12, but that's about it. Maybe an interest-specific camp when they are a little older, like the ones they offer at the zoo.
No one I know does sleep-away camp. It just doesn't seem to be a big thing around here.

Yes dd went to zoo camp, and cheerleading camp last summer this summer she wants to do more including a day camp. When she is old enough she will go to sleep away camp, I worked at a camp for 6 summer and I am a full believer in the bennifits of summer camp

This is my exact situation. I feel like everyone I know whose kids are DS' age or older and is a SAHM send them to regular summer camp, not sports type camps. I have no intention of sending my kids to camp unless they really ask or if they have an interest, I don't really understand the concept if I am at home to be with them. If my kids are into something like soccer, ballet or horses then I would totally try to make that happen and would love it for them. I actually know more than one person that sent their child to summer camp last year (year going into Kindergarten or preschool) so that they could go to their town beach club alone. I know, I am judgemental.

Yes. We started this past summer (DS was 5) and will likely send him to the same camp next summer. He absolutely LOVED camp and still talks about wanting to go back. When he is much older we will probably send him to sleepaway camp if he wants.

Summer camp?

I think a week here and there (maybe 2 over the summer?) is nice. I wouldn't do it for every day though - is that what you mean?
