I moved from VA to Houston over the Thanksgiving weekend. I am 28 weeks
and in need of a RhoGam shot but medicaid denied me due to income from
VA but I am currently not working. 2nd application and an appeal is in
the works but in the meantime I need help getting in and seeing a doctor
that can bare minimum administer this shot. I have funds to pay
out-of-pocket but have been denied by 2 doctors already. 1. wouldn't
accept out-of-pocket and 2. wouldn't take me this far along in my
pregnancy. I am struggling and need help
Oh goodness, call The Women's Specialists of Houston (713-797-1144). They have plenty of doctors on staff so surely someone will be able to take you. They're happy to accept cash as far as I know and I cannot imagine them denying you care assuming a doctor has an opening. Good luck!
oh no! I am so sorry that you are having to deal with this right now with a pregnancy and a move.. otoh, welcome to houston!
You could also try Pat Jones, Jackie Griggs, or any of the other CNMs in Houston.. I BELIEVE they can prescribe RhoGam and they will probably be cheaper than a hospital/doctor. I hope that either the Women's Specialists or the CNMs can help you!
Thank you for your concern and insight! I appreciate ya'll and this website! :-)
Well, I did follow up with one of the midwives in the area and she said a home birth midwife CAN get the Rhogam for you, but they will need to see your chart.
Have you considered a home birth or a birth center birth?
