F/U: recommend your formula

BACKGROUND...I need help.  Right now my supply is tanking & I'm working to get it back up.  So for now I will need to supplement, giving LO one formula bottle a day at daycare.  (She will have 2 bottles of breastmilk as well, all I can fill up on a regular basis right now.)  Can you ladies recommend your formula?

She had reflux when she was a newborn, but that ended before 3 months.  She's eating solids as well with no problems.  I'm going to start tonight, hopefully she will take the formula w/no problem.

Thanks for the suggestions ladies.  I tried the Similac advanced (got sucked in by the "closer than ever to your breastmilk" label).  Well LilyBug drank the bottle with no problem.  Then about 45mins later she was laying in my lap.  She sat up/looked @ me & the rest is history.  She threw it all up in my lap.  I know she's ok.  It was like after she got it all out she felt relieved.  I just feel bad that it upset her stomach.  I called her pedi today & she told me it's ok to give it to her again bc her system has to get used to it.  I know my milk is thinner, so it's a lot to digest, but I just feel bad about her upset stomach.  Don't know what my next step is.  My cousin suggested just giving her cow's milk.  My sister suggested trying Good Start.  I have no idea what to do.....

  • Good Start is expensive.  I'd maybe try getting some of the BRU generic sensitive formula and see how that goes.  The generic stuff is just fine to use.

  • Jack did that too when we first started on formula. I would just keep trying! Eventually Jack got use to the formula and figured out how much to eat. We tried Good Start at first and LO hated it and then switched to Similac. We just made the switch to the Target brand similac...it is sooo much cheaper and LO has no issues with it!

  • keep trying, it can take a while and if you keep switching it only makes things worse.

  • I am going through the same thing. I have enough frozen milk left for maybe 2 weeks and then we will have to start supplementing with formula. I am so afraid she is not going to take it well. I heard somewhere that Gerber formula tends to be easier on BF babies, but I don't remember where or heard that or what makes it different than any other formula.

  • We tried similac advance and DD did the same thing so we switched to similac sensitive. She was able to handle it but she got really constipated from it. Our Ped told us to switch to gerber gentle because it's easier to digest. It worked like a charm! It is the same price as similac but gerber doesn't send coupons nearly as much as similac which is annoying.

  • After EP for 4 months we started DD on Gerber Good Start.  She has had no issues and does really well.
