New Momnmies in Alex/Annandale/Springfield Area?

Hi,

I'm a new mom looking to connect with other new mommies (and their babies!) in the area!  DH and I are the only one in our group of friends with a LO.  Hoping to make some friends in a similar boat.   We just had our little girl on Dec. 12.

    Congratulations and welcome to the board. I know there are both local moms and mops groups and your neighborhood may have a moms group as well. If you belong to a local house of worship, they might have a play group as well. Many of these groups can be geared to sahm. Although I haven't looked hard, working moms groups are a bit harder to come by. All that said, most of my friends who made friends soon after their little ones were born did so at the breastfeeding class at the hospital or the breastfeeding center downtown or through stroller strides or other mom fitness group in addition to their neighborhood moms groups. Congrats again.

    That new mom group through Inova was a life-saver for me when I had my first baby.

    I had GREAT luck with the Fair Oaks Mom's Meetup group.  It was the best group that did lots of activities/pot lucks/play groups etc.  The used to do a starbucks coffee meetup Wed mornings at the Fair Oaks Mall.  I don't know if they do that anymore.

    I'm in the Bailey's Crossroads area and have a little girl born on 11/25.  I used meetup.com to join a group called Mamistad, which has been a good source of support.  I've been thinking about going to the Inova Alexandria New Mom's group, too. My email is candacemae at gmail.com.

    Thanks for the responses.  Went to Inova Moms on Monday...was really great!
