Hi everyone, I don't have much time (you understand!) but wanted to quickly let you all know that my two beautiful daughters were born at 11:03 and 11:04 am on Friday, January 6th at 37 weeks 3 days. The C-section went well, and the girls were awesome. 5lb13oz and 5lb8oz, no NICU time, no complications whatsoever. The only problem with the surgery was with all the various needles- it took the nurse 2 tries (including lots of digging around in various angles each time) to get the IV in, then it took 2 tries to get the epidural in (the first time only my left leg got tingly so they took it out, called in a different anesthesiologist, and tried again successfully), and 2 tries to draw blood for a blood test afterwards. I had to spend 3 hours instead of 30 minutes in recovery because it took much longer for the epidural to wear off (probably because of the double attempts), but actually I got out at the same time as the babies broke out of the nursery with a clean bill of health, so it worked out OK.
Anyway, the first week with them has been an emotional rollercoaster, especially as I try to figure out breastfeeding with them (lots of trouble latching with both), but I am completely in love and we have had many wonderful moments.
I hope everyone is doing well and I look forward to the day when I have time to sit down and commiserate about life with newborns with all of you!
