Talk to me about pull-ups

They are basically diapers....right? I know the swim diapers do not contain pee and I just want to make sure the pull-ups contain everything. Gracie's MDO teacher said she is the only one in her class that is not potty trained and suggested we start sending her to school in pull-ups so that she can help us potty train. Gracie picked out some princess ones last night and I sent her to school in one today. Hold me, I'm scared.

Re: Talk to me about pull-ups

  • They can hold it all, but not always great for overnight in my experience.  I think you're assessment is right.  They are just diapers but they are easier to get up and down/on and off so it's more a convenience thing in my book.

  • Ditto the pp, they work great during the day and we didn't experience any leaks with them.  They were perfect during the transition between diapers and underwear.  DS was able to get his pull ups on and off when he needed to use the potty.  I think it really allowed him quicker access to the potty so he was able to use the toilet more frequently at school.  He only used pull-ups for about a month or so until he was ready to PT.

We never referred to them as a diaper, and A always considered them a "big boy" item, so I really don't feel they hindered his PTing.  I never felt like they were a waste of money for the convenience factor.

This is what we did last night. We taked about her picking out her new "big girl panties" and then we had a long talk about how the princesses on them are sooooo pretty and she needs to try to keep them pretty and not go potty on them and stuff.

Whew, I had kind of a freak-out this morning as I pulled away realizing I may have sent her to school in something that does not contain pee.

  • Our experience with pull-ups hasn't been great. We were out of diapers once and used those in a pinch. We ended up with pee everywhere. Maybe it's different since he was definitely NOT PTing and peed in them like a diaper?

  • When we're out and about I put K in panties with a pull up over, just in case. We may or may not have had a situation in Lowes where she released the floodgates at the register. Seriously, I have never seen so much pee come out of such a little person (I had taken her to the potty 2X with no success, stinker!) Indifferent

BTW, target has a brand of pull ups that are good and cheap(er).
