I hadn't thought about this before but they must be able to go anywhere because I have a student who lives in Cartersville and my preschool is in Cobb. I am pretty sure there is no paperwork for proof of residency in the packet that they check for either. Cobb does not have GA Pre-K in their elementary schools anymore (only special needs Pre-K). Some other counties still do. I am guessing that if it were a Pre-K in a school system you might have to be in that specific school's district. Just thinking that they probably are able to ride the bus and therefore would have to live in the right district.
It depends on the school. Our private daycare which was lottery funded only accepted children of employees and it didn't matter what county they lived in.
Our Decatur public pre-k accepts City of Decatur residents first and if there are any spots leftover they open it up to the general public.
