Working Moms

Does anyone use someone else to take LO to daycare?

We really love our daycare but it is about a 20 min (on a good day) drive in the opposite direction of where we both work.  This tacks on about an hour to our days.  I hate the thought of switching daycares to a closer one so I was wondering if anyone out there has a nanny or someone they pay just to take there LO to and from daycare and how much they pay?

  • Honestly, I'd switch daycares rather than find someone to take her and pick her up.  Not only are you paying for their time you also have to provide a carseat, etc.  And what if that person oversleeps or is sick?  It just sounds like kind of a hassle, IMO.

Your DD is so young that she'll adjust really well if you switched.  Is there another reason you're hesitant to switch?  Quality, cost, etc?

  • We're just so happy with the one that she's currently attends.  It's so clean, she's never been sick, she seems so happy there, and we love the owner and staff

  • We have an au pair and depending on the day he does pick up/drop off at preschool ( DS2 and DD1 go part time).  It's on my way to work, but I work early one of the days they go to school.

  • We do.  We are lucky in the sense that one of parents can do it.  However, I provide the car, gas, and carseat. This has worked out great for us.  But it is a family member so that helps.
