Date night?

Anyone have any plans for a nice date night with SO before LO arrives? I would love love love to do something active but honestly I am getting to the point of being exhausted after walking up two flights of stairs haha pathetic, I know. But both of my sister in-laws suggested spending some QT with DH before baby, especially since this is our first :) I think we have a typical low key dinner and movie date night, and I actually think I could use this especially since my emotions and insecurities have been at an all time high! Anyone else have plans?

Re: Date night?

  • I didn't have plans...but I'm going to now!  Thanks for the idea.  We've gotten in such a "routine" of doing the same 'ole same 'ole every day that we've not gone on a date in ... I don't know when!

  • We had an entire date weekend before #1 was born.  It was really nice.  We've just gotten to a point where we will leave him overnight with my parents so we've had some nice date nights recently as well.

  • We usually celebrate our dating anniversary (Jan 18th), so though we haven't made a plan, I'm expecting we'll do that next week.  Thanks for your post though - I should definitely get on planning that!

  • We're going to Disney on Monday! (We have annual passes so if I get tired I won't feel bad leaving) Aside from that, we have a gift certificate to a restaurant that I am sure we will use before baby arrives. Also, we like to play board games a lot, so it is nice to just relax and play cards or something.

  • H and I work together, so the day before my induction I would like to go have a nice lunch with him, just the two of us, and then maybe pick DS up from school early and do something fun with him as a family of 3.  DS isn't big on eating out or anything, so I thought maybe a movie or just some cuddle time on the couch just the 3 of us would be fun.  And since DS loves finger painting, etc. I want to help him paint a card for DS #2 and he can bring it to the hospital for him.  Or even put it on our hospital door - that way he feels involved and can be a memento as well.

  • We had a nice dinner out last weekend.

Next weekend we plan to try to get hockey tickets.  The following weekend we might aim for a fondue date.  I want to date my husband always, but right now, I feel like I am wasting time NOT getting out - I am worried about being home with a baby for four months, will seem like forever!

The thing is, we can do all of those things with a newborn...I am WAY more worried about after the baby is mobile and awake more!

  • No, not really. I'm just so uncomfortable all the time right now that I'd rather wait until she's a couple weeks old for a date night. We went out to dinner when DS was about a week & a half old & it was really nice. Although we thought we'd been gone forever & we got back & my mom was like, what are you guys doing here, you've only been gone for an hour & a half!

  • Ever since we got married, DH and I have had a date night every Wednesday (occasional tuesdays or thursdays when wednesday didn't work out). Ever since we found out I'm pregnant, we've been doing things that we specifically won't be able to do for a while (movies, live theater, really quiet restaurants).

  • We don't have anything planned. The problem is that it costs too much to go out to eat (we're on a really tight budget), and even though we got a gift certificate to the movies for Christmas, these days I'm peeing every 30 minutes or so, so I wouldn't be able to enjoy the entire movie. Nope, we're just staying home and being fuddy-duddies.
  • Yes!  My SIL is taking DD overnight on Saturday to Sunday, so we're going out for dinner downtown and stopping by my brother's engagement party.  DH loves to go to the movies, so we might do that, too.  I love our time out and alone together :)

  • Hubby snagged a couple of tickets to see our local hockey team next weekend!  We love to go whenever we can, and usually make a night of it with dinner beforehand.  And then the next day is the baby shower!  My husband is also hoping to take me to see his favorite local band, but the date of the show is the day after my EDD, so we'll see about that one!

  • Back in September I booked reservations for this restaurant that's really hard to get into (feb 3rd was their first available opening!). They only seat 12 people per night and it's a multi course meal selected entirely by the chef. We figure we'll make a date out of it--dinner, then movie, then massage appointments the next morning. DD will spend the night with grandma.
