Does your DC eat spaghetti?

DD is 8+ months, and is doing really well with table food. I'd like to offer her some pasta with a little marinara sauce. (She already eats plain pasta.) I know tomatoes are acidic, so I am hesitant to offer it too early, but I notice that some Gerber stage 2 dinners have tomatoes listed, like in their beef and macaroni dinner, which is rec'd for ages 6 months+. Also, I have an acquaintance whose 1 year old's favorite thing to eat is pizza, so I imagine she started her on tomatoes before her 1st birthday.?

?

So I am just wondering at what age you offered your DC tomato sauce, and how did he/she do with it??

Re: Does your DC eat spaghetti?

  • I noticed the same thing- DS has ate the Stage 3 spaghetti since he was 7 months- last night I just pureed some of the spaghetti we had for dinner (which had garlic and all that too) and he did fine.

  • She eats Rotini pasta with marinara, yes. Not a spaghetti noodle though.
  • Yes, small amounts of sauce on pasta since about 7 months!
  • We didn't offer it until about 10 months and DS gets a rash everytime he has tomato based products.

  • My DD is 8 months and a week and has reflux, she is on all table food and eats pizza and pasta with sauce and loves it.  I was nervous to give it to her at first because of her reflux but it has not bothered her at all.  I really think every child is going to react differently to foods.  Just like some will do better with spicy foods.  I have always heard and followed that its better to try a variety of things, including spicy things while they are young so they get used to the many different flavors and such.  My older DD has been eating the same thing as DH and I since she started table foods and she will eat pretty much anything - even things I won't touch.

  • He had some for the first time about a week ago. It was messy.
  • Yep, since around 7 months. He love it!

  • I offered DS spaghetti at around 8 months because it was one of the only foods he would eat without putting up a fight, lol.  He's pretty picky when it comes to eating from a spoon, unless it's yogurt or oatmeal.  He still loves spaghetti so much I've had the urge to offer it at every meal :)
