1st birthday etiquette Q

Just wondering what people's thoughts are on having a registry for LO's birthday?  When I was doing the baby shower registry the stores all said "don't forget to come back when its his birthday." Is this normal or is it bad form to bascially say "get him this for his birthday"?

 Thanks :)

  • I have never seen a registry for a first birthday--I think it sounds off.

  • Don't do it! It is just the stores way to generating more revenue.

  • My sister used to work for BRU so she has all of her kids (13,11,8,4) register for gifts. But to be fair, they can then go around and pick what they would like. I usually have no idea what to get an 8 year old boy for his birthday other than a video game but what kind of video game. So for older kids I think its great. For a 1 year old I don't think so. No baby has likes and dislikes when it comes to toys and clothes. I do sure but I can take something back. Registering for the first birthday doesn't seem necessary IMO.

  • I personally think is tacky, I wouldn't do it. Oh and I've never heard of a registry for a 1 y.o.

This. I would totally side-eye a mom who send out an invite with a registry for her 1 year old. At that age, it's a registry for her, and she just had a baby shower last year (yes, I know that she'll need different things now than before the baby was born, but still).
