I had a scheduled c-section with DD1 because she was breech and recovery was a breeze. If you've had multiple c/s how was recovery while having another child to take care of? DD1 will only be 15 months when we take this one home. I'm worried about lifting/caring for her while recovering and wonder if it will take longer.
Re: 2+ mommas recovery time?
I had a csection 3 weeks ago and I have a 2 year old. I could not lift him until very recently, and now if I do I can feel the pulling in my stomach and it makes me nervous that I'm messing something up. My DS weighs 30lbs. I'm lucky that he can do most things by himself, like get into his carseat and high chair, and he understands that I can't pick him up because I have a boo boo in my tummy.
I think it's possible that I could hold him now if I had to, but I definitely would avoid it at all costs. I'm actually the most worried that he is going to knee me in the incision or kick me with his sneakers without realizing it. I still don't think I'll be picking him up regularly for a few weeks, but I'm being conservative.
My sons are 15 months apart and I had a c/s with both. My recovery with both c/s was pretty easy and with DS2 I didn't have time to stop really. I listened to my body but after a week I had to lift DS1 some. We did teach DS1 to go up/down our steps before DS2 came which helped a lot. DS1 was already in a twin bed and he could get in/out of it himself. After the first week and half I was alone with both boys so I had to take care of them.
Just listen to your body and if something doesn't feel right don't do. Spend time on the floor or get DD1 up on the couch with you.
How did you teach him to go down? She knows how to go up which will be a huge help but going down she is fearless and just wants to walk off the edge. I can't get her to turn around and crawl down.
(read it. you know you want to.)
