I know it's just natural - babies/kids need less daytime sleep - or rather, they are able to stay awake for longer periods of time. But, what to do if they are having some trouble with this - as in, she won't stay awake for longer than like 2 hours at a time!!!! I have tried several times to get her to take just 2 naps, opposed to her normal 3, but poor gal is yawning and rubbing her eyes and I would be CRUEL to keep her up.
And when I have done 2 naps, they aren't long at all.. so she's ALL kinds of crabby at the day's end.
I remember DS was around 8 mts when he went to 2 naps, and I thought THAT was on the late side. Anyone else w/an 8 mt plus baby still taking 3 naps? When do I really need to buckle down and force the 2-nap issue? (and why??)
Re: resisting going from 3 naps to 2
I might be in ignorance bliss here but why would you need to force a baby to go from 3 to 2 naps? DS still takes 3 naps most days, some days it's just 2. But i follow his cues, most days he naps after only two hours of being awake. What's wrong with that?
My Blog: Naturally Mindful
My LO still takes 3 naps most of the time. I am not worried about it in the least. The more daytime sleep he gets the better! (FWIW he sleeps 11 hours at night).
Occasionally he takes only two.. but 99% of the time its still 3.
He can only stay awake 2.5 hours at most. Usually its around 2.
