So, help me picture how this all works (re GTG)

Naturally I'd LOVE everyone to come to Nashville!! (Do I need to post a campain for Music City??!!!) But I'd like to think I'd be able to go, regardless. . .

But help me picture how it plays out!

Does everyone stay in the same hotel? If you come by yourself - do people find roommates?

What if you bring DH/ kids - Do you kind of do your own thing during the day, then just you meet up with the girls for scheduled things?

I've gathered that, to a large exent, it's whatever works best for you and your family - but I find fear and stress in the details, and the thought of traveling alone (or flying with the kids!) has me a little freaked out Embarrassed So humor me, if you would, and help me picture how it goes normally. . .

The first GTG (Vegas) was super-tiny, so we all just went without kids. In fact, it was so tiny that those of us who weren't local all stayed in the same hotel room.

Otherwise, you do whatever you want to do. There are generally some events planned for those who are solo and also for those who brought kids, but everyone just participates as much or little as they want. I believe there is usually one main hotel, but you don't have to stick to it. It's nice to get a group discount and share rooms, though!

It just depends on what you want. Chicago, some brought kids (or had htem here because we live here) others didn't. Those with kids mostly did their own thing during the day, but I left mine with DH and did the spa day still. Those who came in without kids stayed in the hotel, most with roommates I think.

Traveling alone is no big deal at all. With kids, that's another story (and why it's just me unless Nashville wins, since we can drive to Nashville).

I'll room with you!

Of course this all assumes that it's not a weekend we're busy, of which there are a TON between April and June (Disney trip, nephew/BFF kids' bdays, cousin's wedding, my kids' bdays). The odds of it being a weekend I'm free are low but I'm going to campaign heavily once dates are proposed!

I've wondered this as well. I wanted to go last year but my IUI cycle was going to interfere. This year unless the date doesn't work, (and we don't have much planned that I wouldn't skip) I'm in! It will probably be just me so I'll be in the market for roommates!! For nashville I'll be driving but Tx I'd be flying stand-by on Southwest.

I've traveled alone plenty, it's nothing to be scared of, I find it easier because I'm used to it.

Last year in DC we all pretty much stayed at the same hotel, a few were local so they didn't need the rooms. Myself, Mousey, AlChris, and MyColony all had our husbands and children at the hotel as well. We were all on the same floor too. Friday night Charmcity had welcome party at her house, which most (not myself) attended, everyone helped paid for catering. Saturday, during the day pretty much everyone who was there with their families went to the Zoo and some other attractions. Some of the ladies did a spa day and then did some site seeing. At night all the ladies (and my husband LOL only male there) went to a bar. Sunday some of us had breakfast at the hotel.

I was just wondering if anyone would be driving from Louisville down! I am really excited if it is Nashville because I could actually make it!

yes, and it was such a fun weekend! I went by myself - for me, the whole point was to get away from kids and husband! I would go by myself again this year and thus would need a roommate. I really liked the balance of planned activities and free time. I got to wander around and shop by myself for hours, but also got fun spa/bar/restaurant time with the ladies. And big thanks to CharmCity for hosting the dinner at her house!

I was just wondering if anyone would be driving from Louisville down! I am really excited if it is Nashville because I could actually make it!

As far as I know we're the only 3 here in Louisville, we can all ride together if nashville wins! Tx sounds fun but Nashville would definitely be easier.

I have done 3 GTGs (2 in Chicago and 1 in DC, which is local for me). DH came with me the first year (I was 6 weeks pregnant) and DH and G came with me the 2nd year. We stayed in the same hotel as Smilee but I don't think anyone else stayed there....

I think if I were to go alone I would want to stay in the same hotel as everyone else....but....I'd probably still want my own hotel room. I'm funny that way. But with DH and G I'm more concerned with staying somewhere convenient and nice (with points if possible ; )

For this year, I am worried I will have to miss it since I am due April 21st, but.....if it happens after July, I think I would make an effort to go-- probably bringing just the new baby but maybe the whole family would go. (If it is NYC we'd probably all go since we have tons of family and friends there) Not so sure with the other cities.

I try to do as much with the group as possible but don't mind doing stuff on our own too.
