What to do??

I have never posted on here before, but I NEED some ideas!!!  What is there to do with a 10 month old?  I'm a SAHM, none of my friends have kids, my husband travels for work every week, and I don't have any family in town.  Is there any place to go to meet other people with little ones?  I've cruised the aisles of Target way too many times!!!  I really hate to say this, but I'm bored and restless.  Does that make me a bad mom?

Re: What to do??

  • It doesn't make you a bad mom. It's one reason I work part time while the boys go to school M,W,F.

Our favorites places to go are the zoo, aquarium, parks. I've actually meet several moms at the local park. If you are regilious at all there are mom to mom bible studies at certain churches. What part of the city are you in?

  • Check out Meetup.com - they may have some moms groups you might like to try out.

  • As pp said, meetup.com is a good place to look.

Also, you can try out Gymboree Classes (you can try one out for free), The Music Class, local parks (free!), and your local library for story time (free!).

  • I could have totally written this post when we moved here 5 years ago.

If you like to workout, check out Stroller Strides or Oh Baby Fitness.  If you want something more geared to the baby, try the classes at Play 2 Grow, Gymboree, The Music Class, Little Gym, etc.  Or, if you want to meet other moms without wrangling a baby/toddler, check out MOPS (https://www.peachtreepres.org/Women_MOPS.aspx).  I'm not particularly religious, but I started going when DD#1 was about 6 months old and I really enjoyed visiting with the other moms and DD seemed to have a blast at the church nursery.

  • MeetUp.com is a great way to find groups near you with similar interests.  I also loved Gymboree when E was 10 months old: great way to meet other moms with kids the same age, and E just loved the classes.

  • As others have said, baby is getting to the age where you can really get out and do stuff they'll enjoy, like take a Gymboree or music class, go to storytime at the library, the park in the mornings (while big kids are in school), or find a playgroup in your area on Meetup.com....you'll start meeting moms and kids that way.  Being a new mom can be so isolating when baby is so young and you don't know others who are also home all day, it was definitely an adjustment for me!
