How did you tell your SO or DH? How did he react?
I took a test in one of my paranoid moments. I knew that I would be drinking more than a few that evening and decided to take one "just incase."
My SO was taking a nap after a long day at work. When the double lines showed up within 30 seconds of peeing on the dang thing, my heart started racing and I am pretty sure the same words came out of my mouth as the 1st time around (though DD#1 was planned with my ex Hubby). Something like "Oh $#!%."
Then I went into the bedroom, knelt on the bed and gently shook him. He opened his eyes, took one look at me and my white as a sheet face and was wide awake asking "What's wrong Babe?" or something like that. I said "I am pretty sure I am pregnant."
He put his hand on my knee and said "Okay... so our family grows by one..." Which is the best thing he could have said and best way he could have reacted with as freaked as I was.
Now we are just ready (and nervous ofcourse) to meet our little Unexpected Blessing... 13 days, if not less!
Re: Spurred by "Oh Memories" Post
I kind of posted about it there, but I'll post it again
I took the test and let it sit the two minutes. He was sitting on the bed, waiting for the result. I looked, saw "pregnant" (we didn't chance it with the lined ones!!) and smiled. He knew from my smile that it was what we'd been hoping for!
I also took the test because I felt a little different, so I think he'd gotten his hopes up already.

We live in NC and we were visiting my ILs in NY. Well we were sitting down having a beer with his dad and aunt and uncle and I had to pee. MH told me I should probably go take the test since I had to pee anyways. I went and took the test, thinking it would be negative, then called him inside after I saw the second line. He just smiled and said we would get more to make sure since we couldn't go to the doctor. When we went back outside I told him he could finish my beer haha.
We went and bought 2 more tests the next day. We were pretty excited after that.
I had spent the week before with my family (7 hours away) for my cousin's bridal shower. It was the last week of my first month on Clomid. My cycles had never been regular (except on BC) and knew if this was going to regulate me at all I would have started my period while I was out of town. Well I came home late that Saturday night (shower was Saturday morning) because DH was running in his first half marathon the next morning that he had been training for for months (I had even helped, by biking with him occassionally). I didn't say anything to him that I hadn't started because I didn't want him thinking about it during his run and mess with his head. I wanted that time to be about him, because I was so proud of how hard he had been training. He also hadn't asked, but I think he was pretty sure after 18 months of trying that this "clomid" wasn't going to do the trick.
Well, we got up real early for his race and I held in my pee the whole race (I didn't want it watered down when I tested). I waited at the finish line for him and got to see him cross (along with Drew Carey and my OB, haha, ironic I know). Afterwards, he was beat and I drove us home. I asked if he was cool with us stopping at the store to get food for lunch, he said fine, but didn't want to walk around the store. So I went in by myself, got some food and a pregnancy test. I didn't say anything. We got home and I sprinted up to the bathroom, leaving him and his aching body/feet in my dust. I took the test and almost started hyperventiliating, it showed up so fast! I came downstairs with it behind my back and told him he might want to sit down, which he was fine with at that point. I told him I didn't want to take his day away from him, but I couldn't wait any more. I handed him the test, which was digital and it said "Pregnant." He started shaking and hugged me (he was kinda sweaty and gross, but I didn't care). We were just giggling the rest of the day and he kept teasing me that I took his moment from him.
erineileen317 - That's a really cute story. But, holy heck, how did you hold your pee that long??? I pee first thing every morning, and I just can't imagine waking up, going to a race (lasting at least 2 hours), going to the store, driving home, and then peeing. My poor pregnancy bladder had to pee just reading your story
My story's not too exciting. It was our third month of trying. I was charting my temperature, and had always had a temp dip on 10 DPO (I'd charted for several months before trying, too). I woke up at 6 am on 10DPO and my temp was the same as the previous days. So, I ran to the bathroom to take a test. I used a crappy ol' blue dye test, but saw a very faint line within the time window. After I came to the realization that the line was real, I went to wake my husband up. I said "Baby? Crack open the champagne, we're having a baby!" (this was a joke referring to a movie we'd seen recently where they had champagne to celebrate a pregnancy). My husband was still sound asleep and all he really remembers is me coming in the room and saying "baby?" He thought there was something wrong. Then, in his sleepy state, he couldn't see the (very) faint line, so he was happy but also skeptical that I was actually pregnant. I tested again the next day to prove it to him
I still can't believe we're having a baby!
My husband and I decided that we were ready to start trying to get pregnant, so I stopped taking BC pills. I got my period, then we started having fun
A couple days before when I thought I was going to start my next period, I was feeling "off". Not really nauseous, but not myself. I thought there was no way I was pregnant already, but me being the over excited eager beaver that I am got a test and sure enough, 2 lines showed up! (It still kind of faint since I hadn't missed my period yet).
I went out to our living room and my husband was playing a video game on his computer. I showed him the stick, and he said "What am I looking at?" I told him "We're pregnant!" and he says "Already? Cool." and goes back to playing his game.
We're still working on appropriate expression of emotions in our home. Sigh...
