Does this bother anyone else?

Ok - so maybe I'm being lame...but it kinda bugs me when a children's song uses blatantly incorrect grammar. Shouldn't we be trying to teach our kids proper English?? I know it's not a big thing - but just something that bugs me. Wondering if I'm the only one.

For example, heard a song this morning - "Ain't Gonna Rain No More"

Ehhhh, that doesn't bother me. I grew up with those songs and I speak just fine.

(That is a fab song, btw. Its going to be stuck in my head now! lol)

Back when that song was created 'Aint was a perfectly acceptable word. I think. I make things up sometimes.

Also, on the topic of kid's songs that should be shot in the face. I got Ellie a CD of silly songs and this one was on there:

I don't want to offend a kid's mom but this boy is an ***. I'd kick his ass out of the canoe if he threatened to throw me over board for not kissing him.

I had never really thought about it...I don't know many songs. I sing brusha brusha brusha from Grease when we brush her teeth because I don't know a different one.

But there is one episode of Mikey Mouse Club house that bothers me a little and I know I am being a bit weird but it is the Donald and the Beanstalk...Donald gets beans and trades his pet (shouldn't do that) and takes beans from the stranger Giant, then Mickey thinks that they should just go steal back Boo Boo Chicken with some breaking and entering. Donald made a trade and he should have to stick to it.

I think it's totally funny that you have more of an issue with the fact that Donald isn't sticking to his trade than the fact that he is "breaking and entering". LOL

Or what about the episode where they sing "Shake shake shake your peanut"? I think it just makes me blush because we call C peanut, and when my cousins' two year old tries to call her peanut, it sounds like penis. It kills me.

Or the episode where Donald and Goofy are stuck on mistletoe mountain and call Mickey for help and Goofy goes "Guess what?" Mickey: "What?" Goofy: "Chicken Butt"

Obviously I watch Mickey way too much. I've actually caught myself watching episodes when C is napping/in bed.

"shake shake shake your peanut, baby elephant come home with me" DD loves that episode

How about the goofy's Giant adventure. If you watch for the first time Daisy appears in the episode Donald rolls his eyes when she comes into view.

Got to say, I never pictured you as the cheerleader type, GM.

O's new daycare name spells Kids with a Z. That bugs me for some reason, though not apparently that much since I'm giving them a ton of $.
