Hi, I'm thinking about taking my 1 1/2 year old twins to a library storytime. I've never done it before and I'm a little nervous that they are both going to run in different directions. So my question is -am I crazy for trying to do this on my own? Any advice or just words of encouragement would be appreciated.
Re: storytime
I brought mine to b&n about that age by myself and one time it went great and another time they were all over the place...I would just be sure to bring them in via stroller, so if they get crazy you can strap them in to leave...and don't worry if it is a fail...I've seen plenty of moms with one kid leave with a squirmy screamer...
I just took my 1.5 year old twins to story time for the first time a couple weeks ago. I was REALLY excited about it. The way I figured, it was our tiny local library, and if it all fell apart, we'd just leave.
DS2 was being super clingy and wouldn't move from my lap one tiny bit. DS1 on the other hand was totally the "wondering kid". You know the one who won't sit on his little carpet square and keeps wondering around pulling trash out of the garbage? Yeah, that was my kid. I did the best I could with frantic arm gestures and wisper yelling to get him to come sit down. He did not. Oh well. I think the other parents understood I was doing the best I could. Thankfully he wasn't too disruptive to all the well-behaved kids who were listening.
Unfortunately I work full time, but if I stayed at home, I'd take them every single week. After going a few times, I'm sure they'd understand about sitting. Hopefully they wouldn't run around EVERY time.
All in all, I'd totally vote you go! It was one of those mom things I was dying to do, and I think the boys enjoyed it.
It didn't go perfect, but oh well. Things rarely do.
aw, I'm definitely going to try it soon!
