Why do doctors tell you something and not give you any details?
We had our first u/s today and were elated to see our little one. He/she was moving around in there and it was just awesome to watch. Later when the doctor came in he tells me I have a fibroid and we can't have sex and I can't exercise anymore. Actually he didn't tell us that. He said I might have to limit activities and we had to start asking about specific activities. We didn't really get any more information than that. This wasn't my regular doctor and I think he was in the room for about a minute and a half.
Anyone else have a fibroid (or more)? What did your doctor tell you (I realize everyone is different)? I just feel really uninformed.
Also, another vent, they are making me get an early glucose test since my dad is diabetic. My dad is diabetic because he is obese, it's not genetic.
I should be just be thrilled at the sight of my little one, but the doctor managed to pull that rug out from under me. Nothing like lack of information to ruin your day.
Re: So confused (fibroid question)
I think fibroids can be rather common. From what I know, they are only "dangerous" when they are growing or if they are very large. My best friend unfortunately lost her baby at 10 weeks, they think because of her large fibroids. She's had surgery to remove some but they keep coming back. The peri suggested she get pregnant again quickly because its been a battle for her. Not trying to scare you - but if you only have one and its small and not growing, it shouldn't be an issue. They are probably limiting activity to be sure its not growing/irritated from other things.
Best of luck to you1!
I have a 10 cm (so apx 4") Fibroid. My ob said they can increase as you get further along so they will just watch it. They did not mention anything to me about reducing activites. It could have to do with the placement though. I know if they are lower (around your cervix) they can lead to a tricky vag. birth and will likely result in a C-sec becuase they block the baby from moveing down. Mine is higher up, above the baby.
I do notice that it hurts somtimes and I have to slow down
I am sure they will forward all of the information to your regular OB and they will better answer all of you questions at your next apt.
There is a LOT of info on the web as well if you want to read up ahead of time.
