I quite literally just put it down, if you haven't read it it's written by Martha Beck. It's a true story of her experiences not only with finding out she was carrying a child with Down Syndrome (at the age of 25 I believe) and how she, her husband and the Harvard community they are so ingrained into react and deal but also a lot of mystical happenings that surround she and her husband, and how they deal and cope with what feels like the crazies to them.
Some people will totally find it too out there so if you don't believe in, gosh I'm not even sure how to put it, not necessarily god because I'm not so sure about that one but in people's ability to be more in touch with spirits, seeing things before they happen, psychic abilities ect that type of stuff than you probably won't enjoy it and will think she's a nutcase but if you do then I think it's a pretty amazing read.
I think most of you would really enjoy it and it's certainly an interesting read simply from the point of view of a pregnant women and our own hopes and dreams for our children. I highly recommend it and typically I avoid true stories like the plague
. I'm a total political thriller junkie and this book sat around my house for a few weeks after my mom brought, then I finally went through all of my books and honestly started it out of sheer desperation to just read.
Re: Anyone read Expecting Adam?
Thanks I am putting it on my list.
Yay, I'm so glad to see so many people interested! I know I always love a good book tip and I know you guys will really enjoy it.
Green eyes.......What type of articles does she write for O? I was pretty surprised at the end of the book to see that she worked for O, I guess it seemed so main stream after reading the book. Also in the book she is vague about having some sort of autoimmuine disorder, any chance she's ever said what it was in the mag? Like you'd remember, right
