Major Back Pain

Hi Ladies,

I posted this on my month board, but I figured it couldn't hurt to get more opinions too.  I may be being an alarmist, so please tell me if it sounds like I am!  I am sitting here at work in my Kindergarten class and my back is killing me!  It is mostly on the right side and is in my lower back.  It is extremely uncomfortable and I am in a lot of pain.  I had pain similar to this over the weekend but I just chalked it up to doing to much bending and lifting as MH and I cleaned out the garage on Saturday.

Today, I have mostly been sitting at my desk because we are trying to finish up our testing, so I haven't been doing anything strenuous.  Does this sound like something I should be worried about?  Occasionally, I have some sharp pains on the right side of my abdomen too but again, I just chalked it up to cramping.  I am not having the cramping right now, just the severe back pain.  Should I wait it out and just make sure I lay down and rest when I get home or does it sound like something I should call the doctor about?  Like so many of you, I am a major worrier too and can usually calm myself down... today it just hurts far worse that I have experienced yet.  Common preg symptom or something more/possibly something wrong?  TIA!!

Re: Major Back Pain

  • I had severe back pain starting on the day I got my BFP and lasting for two and a half weeks.  It then just went away and hasn't been back since.  I took a day off work about a week into having the back pain, which didn't seem to make it go away.  It is a common pregnancy symptom, it's called round ligament pain and happens when the ligaments are stretching to make room for the growing baby.  You can call your doctor if you want, but there's not much they can do.  Ectopic pregnancies can also bring on some back pain and cramping, but your's sounds just like my pain and everything is normal for me.  HTH and that you feel better soon!
