Re: hlke.... i want cake

  • We served the french apple cake (yes, the one with the rum).

It went incredibly, incredibly well!  Their initial response was "wow, cool, yeah!"  We talked about details a bit, what some of the potentially sticky spots are in this process, how we'd feel about certain things.  One of the coolest parts was how on board and understanding potential donor's wife was.

We sent them home with the example health screening, an example known donor contract, and the Stephanie Brill book to read the known donor chapter.  They're going to take some time to fully consider and get back to us.  In the frenzy/happieness, we totally didn't put a timeline on it.  C and I will write an email to them today just to put and end date on the considering.

I am trying to be cautiously optimistic, but really I'm over the moon.

Same sex couple TTC with donor sperm.  I am 35 and carrying.  Endometriosis and DOR.
    AMH 0.5, AFC 5-8, FSH 7ish

IVF #1 - antagonist.  Empty follicle syndrome.  1 retrieved, 0 fertilized.
    IVF #2 - antagonist.  Ovulated early.  3 retrieved, 2 fertilized, 0 blasts

  • Well I am going to be optimistic for you as well.  I really wish DW and I had the guts to ask a guy we know to be our KD but we are afraid of it.  I really admire the guts that you ladies have.
We had three BFN in the Fall of 2011. It is back on to some baby making come June. Swim little fellas, SWIM!!!!
  • We would love to and have discussed it a lot.  The problem is he is a coworker of DW that has become a friend to both of us.  He is gay, loves kids (obviously because he is a teacher) and we would so not be opposed to having him in our lives forever but only as an "Uncle" kinda deal.  They have been working together for 4 years and he even drives DW home when I have class.  Uggg we are such chickens lol.  I just dont want him to feel weird if it makes him uncomfortable.  I know we would be fine because that is such a big thing to ask I would expect to be rejected.

Sounds like part of the problem may be the co-worker thing and I am going to come out and say our KD worked with me and it really was not a big deal. We saw each other every day in the break room and he did not treat me any differently than he had before. No one in our office knows and I even told other people right in front of him that a friend donated for us and was not involved in the baby's life and had no desire to be so. They had given us a huge gift. He was totally cool with it. We now work in spereate buildings but still talk professionally when our work loads overlap. He has declined to be our donor for the 2nd baby for personal reasons (he was in for the first few cycles but has found a special someone (he is hetero) and does not want to donate when they may be getting serious) and we are still cool. He knows we are still trying with a different KD and does not think anything of it.

hlke congrats on the first meeting going so well!
