  • It happened for us like that as well. We were told in July 2011 by the RE that donor egg with ivf was our only option to having a baby. He diagnosed me with Diminshed ovarian reserve due to advanced maternal age. I'm 38 years old. I started acupuncture the very next month. I read online it takes up to 3 months for it to work. We said we would try acupuncture and IUI 2 times then save up for the IVF. We never got that far (thank goodness) The beginning of November 2011, I got my BFP. I'm currently 13 weeks. We waited until our first ultrasound @ 5 weeks when we saw and heard the heartbeat to tell family and friends.
  • Wow!! Congrats to you! My doctor told me my only hope of conceiving would be with IVF because I'm 39 and my FSH levels were so high. That diagnosis never felt right to me, so prayed about it and decided to try acupuncture instead. Sometimes you just have to trust your instincts!!

  • That is great that acu worked for you! I think it helped my ivf be successful. I still go every 2 weeks and I love it. Welcome!

  • Same for me. I did the Accupunture for Infertility. I was told I'll never conceive on my own until I went to the Dr for the Accupunture. Tradition Chinese Medicine. I drank herbs, changed my diet, added certain vitamins and 6 months later I found out I was pregnant...I'm now 12 weeks. It's so exciting...Big Smile

  • Congrats and welcome!

I looooove acupuncture!  I don't go as often as I would like, but the benefits are wonderful!  It has lessened cold symptoms, eased first trimester morning sickness, and provided overall relaxation.  For our second pregnancy, I received acupuncture around the time of ovulation and conceived right away.  love it, love it, love it!

  • Us too, but i want to post to be sure readers know that acupuncture is very effective on the MEN when the symptom is repeated miscarriages in the first 2 or so weeks after fertilization. My wife and I went through two cycles of IUI at a fertility clinic, one of which resulted in a short-lived pregnancy, and another 2 or so times we had similar results on our own. So of course the fertility clinic kept focusing on my wife, since that's all they can do (and charge for). But we looked to an acupuncture and eastern medicine practitioner for me since we read that pregnancies that end in the couple weeks after fertilization are often male problems. The guy was very knowledgeable, but you need an open mind since he'll do things like look at your tongue and ask questions that seem odd. He gave me a 10 week regimen of weekly acupuncture sessions, about 40 minutes each including a 10 minute exam before each to check progress. And he also gave me herbal supplements. This was all intended to clear my liver and kidneys which are needed to be at peak performance to transfer nutrients to the sperm-producing areas so the chromosomes aren't degrading by the time they fertilize. Oh, did I mention that at week 10 on the dot, we got pregnant after 3 years of trying? Big Smile So I guess the point is that Eastern medicine has been refined over thousands of years--and if any country knows how to have babies, it's China. So give it a chance. The dr might even be able to help you in other ways your normal doctor would never think of because it doesn't come out of Western textbooks. So I imagine it does similar good work for women, but that apparently wasn't needed for us. For me it was about $1000 for the ten sessions and ten weeks of herbs. And it is very relaxing. Good luck!
