s/o - strollers at Disney

Mine will have just turned 4 and almost 2.  I have a city select and a single mclaren volo.  We will be flying down there and spending 6 days in FL doing various things including Disney.  DS1 will ride in the stroller, but hops in and out now. They both like to do whatever the other is doing whether is it riding or walking.

Would you haul the city select down there?  Bring both seats or just one?  just bring the volo that is small and easy?

Re: s/o - strollers at Disney

  • Disney is huge so that means lots of walking...which means little ones get tired (and it doesn't take very long, either!).  I'd bring the stroller that accommodates both of them.  Even if you don't need it the entire time, there will be a moment where both of them will get tired of walking.  My theory is: always be prepared.  Have a great time!

  • When we took my stepdaughter for the first time, she had just turned 4.  We didn't even own a stroller at home because in the 1.5 years we had been getting her, we never needed one.  We rented one every single day in Disney World.  When we go on our next trip, the girls will be over 4.5 and almost 2.5 and I am lugging along the double stroller.  I would much rather deal with the inconvenience of bringing the stroller, knowing where my girls are, letting them sit back and watch everything safely, and not having to carry any sleeping kids around.

  • I agree with the others. We went this past spring when DS was 4yr. He rode in the stroller a lot and even fell asleep in it one day.

  • We went with BIL and his family when I was pg. Their kids were 10, 6 and 3. They rented a double stroller for their 6 and 3 y/o and it actually got a lot of use (especially since it was hot).

When we went in June with our 29-month-olds, we used our City Mini double and that worked well. My friend was there and her kids were 4.5 (I think? or 5?) and 2.5 and she just had a single stroller for her little guy and that was fine.

  • rent a stroller down there from orlando stroller rentals for $105 for an entire week--saves hauling it through the airports--that was for a city mini.   delivered to our resort and picked up when we were done!   my 5 year old was in and out as was the 2 year old, but we were so glad we rented one!
  • We took our girls at the same ages and my 4 year old had no problem walking everywhere.  She rode on her dad's shoulders here and there, but mostly walked.  I'd just take the single.

  • Mine are 4.5 and 20 mos. We took 2 one full size stroller (knowing that 20 month old would nap) and an umbrella (but not the $10 cheapie) for the 4.5 year old who does not nap. I'm glad we took both stollers because the 4.5 year old only walked maybe 1/2 the time and took a nap 3 of 4 day we were there!  Also, I think it was easier to navigate crowds with two small strollers rather than if we'd had one double. I'm glad we took the smaller umbrella because the ones you rent are full-size strollers and again...the crowds.

  • The Disney strollers are hard plastic with no storage, I was very glad that we brought our stroller from home with us. There are also companies in Orlando that you can rent strollers like the city select and they will deliver them to you.
