Re: ***First Year Check-In***
QOTW: early talker. Hands down. I would think that improved communication would make a lot of things a little easier.
Update: baby girl is crawling!! She has great timing, too - we're moving this week, so the house is currently a death trap. In other awesome news, DD slept through the night last night for the first time in months - and it was so so so wonderful.
**the nestie formerly known as karen2508**
QOTW: early talker! it's so fun when she decides to babel, i would love to hear more of that. also i'd like to avoid childproofing the house as long as possible!
Updates: dd is doing well. she's eating lots of purees and i get excited every time we add a new food to her diet. i even started making a couple different kinds of purees to supplement the ones i buy. and she started eating yogurt at daycare which she loves. she's great at sitting up but i'm trying to make sure i do more tummy time with her since i realize that's the only way she'll ever learn to crawl!
my favorite thing now is that i feel like she really recognizes me and she'll put her arms out to me to pick her up. she'll also give open mouth kisses
Yay for crawling and kisses!
QOTW: an early talker fo SHO. DD was an early talker and a late walker and I looooved it. Loved getting to communicate with her so much, loved not having to worry about her being "into" too much. DS started crawling nearly 3 months earlier than she did, so I'm sure he's going to walk much earlier, too. My life has gotten infinitely more complicated now that he's on the move, especially when I've got them both on my own. We actually got out the pack-and-play yesterday to use as a play yard to keep him contained.
Updates: His bottle intake still sucks, but he had a good dinner last night--actually ate purees! And let me feed him! He threw up on me in the middle of the night earlier this week and has since had three days of awful dirty diapers, so I think he's probably just fighting some tummy bug and hopefully he'll do better with his bottles when he feels better. (Hey, I can always hope, right?) Other than that, it's incredible how quickly he has improved at crawling. He's now fast and can go all the way across a room without stopping to rest. He loves to imitate us--shaking his head, clapping, waving bye-bye. This is just such a fun age!
QOTW: probably talking because it's so fun to hear what comes out.
updates: DS's head is still really small. At his 6 month well check on monday he was down to the 1%. We had our follow up with Dell the next day and they still aren't concerned because he is meeting all of his milestones. they think he's just a kid with a small head. We have another follow up in 6 weeks. he's now sitting up on his own now and starting to army crawl a bit. he's also eating a ton, both milk and purees. oh, and he's starting babbling dadadadada. i try to get him to say mamama and he thinks it's the funniest thing he's ever heard. i love baby laughs.
QOTW: early talker, for sure! like BSE said, i want to put off childproofing the house as long as possible. i'm also trying to expose DS to taiwanese and mandarin, so i'm interested in seeing if he's picking up on any of the other languages.
Update: we're back to waking up every few hours during the night so DS can tank up on milk while we're home. i'm exhausted at work. but he took 1.5 oz from a bottle yesterday at daycare. he just needs to keep increasing that amount each day. i also brought a hat he wore the other day to trigger a letdown with the pump through smell. it kind of worked this morning. baby steps...
QOTW: Early talker, hands down. DD was also an early-ish talker and a late walker. Particularly since he's the 2nd, having him be immobile longer will make things so much easier. It's also so nice for them to be able to communicate their wants and needs.
Update: After having some issues (like many of you), DS took a bottle from DH with no problem on Sunday. He's smiling and cooing a lot, which I love and he is a big joy. At his 2-month appt last week (late due to holiday traveling) he was 17 lbs 12 oz.
Thoughts to Rssn and el_Twirpo on your baby boys' milk/food intake. Sounds like they are both getting better.
Continued T&P to Caglebaby's Sarah.
QOTW - Early talker for sure. I'm dreading childproofing, plus I love the babble. I'd love to hear actual words from him.
Updates - We are going to give him some food this weekend, I think. I keep wavering. He is so interested in what we are eating, but I am reluctant to start him on solids for some reason. I am still trying to decide if we'll start with oatmeal or avocado. His sleep has been all over the place so I'm not even going to complain about it anymore. He is getting so strong and starting to try and pull his legs up under him when on his tummy. He loooooooves to kick. I think he is going to be a runner or swimmer or something with how much he moves his legs. He will just kick, kick, kick and smile like crazy, he gets so excited. It's pretty darn cute.
wow! what a big boy! DS was 16lb 6oz at his 6 month on monday. but i think we've already established he's small. actually his weight was 25-40%. Is your DS on the chart?
No, he's not on the chart. It's actually pretty funny to see people's reactions when they ask how old he is. C was 16 lbs even at 6 months so it's taken some getting used to.
QOTW: Early walker, even though I know it's more 'work'. I think it would make some things for fun and be a bit easier not having to carry her around everywhere.
ETA: Wow, it's funny that I am in the minority!!
Update: DD has a bit of a cough which I might be getting concerned with. She is growing too fast, which I'm sure I say each week. She is grabbing her feet and being able to pull her socks off. She's doing more rolling from tummy to back and starting to grab at things more.
that's awesome. you're going to have such toned strong arms carrying him around.
