There's a discussion on the todller board right now where a mom said that she only dresses her DS in jeans or khakis for outside the house. Sweats are only ok at home (not even daycare).
How do you dress your kids at home? For trips to Target? For daycare? Are they always dressed up, or dressed for comfort?
Re: Dressing your LO
DD wears onesies at home. If we got out for a quick trip I usually just throw some pants over the onesie. If we're actually going out for a while I will make more of an effort to put her in a two piece outfit or a dress.
She's never worn jeans a day in her life. I had no idea it was taboo to wear anything other than jeans or khakis. She usually wears these, sue me:
What the hell I feel like dressing him in that day lol. Sometimes we stay in our pajamas all day
He never wears jeans at home, mostly comfy clothes. I will however dress him up nice when we go out. I really just want to show off his cute clothes.
To go out (running errands, church, home group, visiting people) I dress him up in jeans/khakis and a polo or button up shirt. I can't help it, he is so stinkin cute dressed up like a little man. For daycare it's usually jeans and a t shirt, for around the house he's been wearing fleece pants and t shirts and hoodies. I like the jeans/khakis that are lined because they are warmer and just seem more comfy than regular jeans.
I used to put him in a CD, t-shirt, and babylegs, until every male member of both of our families made fun of him =( Now he just wears them at home. Jerks.
Alot of my clothes are hand-me-downs from my sister so some of them are a little worn. She'll wear them around the house. If we're going out I'll put in her sweatpant/legging 2-piece outfit or pants (jeans, cords, khaki) with a top.
I'm not too fussy about her clothes, she's always cute! H is very "creative" with her outfits! Last Sunday he dressed her in a top that had matching bottoms but he didn't put them on her, instead she had khakis and socks that didn't match. Whatev, we were just going to Lowes. I never know what she'll be wearing when he's in charge!
If we are going out to run errands or if he is going to grandma's for the day (babysitting) I either do a 2 piece outfit (matching ones from Carters) or jeans with a shirt. If we are going somewhere nicer than just running a couple of errands I pick one of his nicer outfits or if DH dresses him it is overalls with a shirt underneath. For church it is usually little man dress clothes or smocked longalls with a shirt appropriate to the weather underneath.
On days I work and DH is home all day with him I usually come home to find him still in his PJ's.
Please tell me I'm not the only one who mentally envisioned a toddler covered in ranch.
I try to put her (and me!) in clothes every day, because if not I find I'm several times lazier than usual. Like today I've been in PJs all day and I haven't even been out to check the mail. If we go out though, she has to be in clothes. We went to Starbucks with her still in jammies because we wanted her to go back to sleep last weekend, and I felt so schlubby. And I was wearing clothes!
