How are you storing future clothes for LO?

We were given a bunch of clothes for the first year, but obviously I don't need the bulk of the sizes out quite yet. I've already washed and organized the NB and 0-3 month stuff, but am stuck on what to do with the 3-6 month sizes and bigger.

Anyone have any great ideas or are you thinking rubbermaid container in the garage like me? :)

Re: How are you storing future clothes for LO?

  • I too have a ton of clothes from my sisters and have them in rubbermaid containers in the guest bedroom - I have them separated 3-6 mo 6-9 mo and 9-12 mo they take up space but no one is ever in there!

  • I have long rubbermaid containers that slide easily under my bed and the crib and they are sorted by size.

  • We only got clothes up until 9 mo so I just put everything out in his dresser.  Although if I did have that many clothes I'd prob do what you're doing too.

  • I have a ridiculous amount of clothes from my sister in law.  Newborn all the way up to 5T...they're all in the attic in containers.  My husband gets so mad at me for taking them but they're practically all brand new! She has 2 girls and we are having our second girl so it only makes sense to hold on to them.

Oh, I really like this idea. The rubbermaids they are in now are a bit unwieldy, and this seems much easier!

  • We have SO many rubbermaid bins in the basement with DS's clothes. He began with one medium size per clothes size, but I think he's up to one really large or two medium/large sizes per clothes size...it adds up! I can't imagine what we'll do if this baby is a girl.

  • They are in space saver bags inside a rubbermaid tub in the outdoor storage closet. I don't like them being out there because of bugs, but I really have no choice.

  • Rubbermaid containers in the basement! Labeled of course!

  • I guess I am really missing the labeling. We don't have a *ton* of clothes yet (everything from 3 months up can fit in two medium rubbermaids), but I know it'll grow. The thing that is wigging me out is that multiple sizes are thrown together so I could fit in fewer containers. Underbed storage would fix this!

  • I am using my drawers to store NB and O-3 months (with exception of a few dresses).  I thought this would be easily since it's near my changing station.  I used index cards with labels to help separate the type of clothes (this really makes it nice so I can readily sort short-sleeve onesies, long-sleeve onesies, gowns, etc...)

For clothes > 3 months, I have hung them all the in the closet so I readily know what I have and need.

  • I have them in boxes in the closet.  I separated them out first so all we have to do is grab the 3-6 month boxes when we're ready for them.

This exactly. I have little storage space for containers so hanging them is actually the best option for us. Plus now I get to look at them all the time!

  • I have a dresser drawer for each size- newborn drawer, 0-3 drawer, etc.
  • We live in a apartment so space is limited... I washed everything and organized it by sixe and put them in rubbermaid containers under the bed and in the top of the closet and will rotate the smaller clothes into those bins as he grows out of them.

  • We don't have that many clothes that storage is a problem so so far, just the drawers under the crib and the little plastic drawer set in the closet has done just fine!

  • I also only washed the NB. and 0-3. Those are in his drawers now. Everything else is in a huge trunk (like the military ones) and its in our closet.. we don't have a garage or basement so it kinda sucks!
