What's with the screaming??

The last few days Rylee has been experimenting with how loud she can be. She has done this randomly for a while but it's been a lot lately. Today she woke up not with her usual cute baby chatter but yelling as loud as she can. She yells/screams and then smiles. It was embarrassing when she did it in the library the other day ??. Crazy baby!

Re: What's with the screaming??

  • V is out of control with his yelling lately.  The whole time I made dinner last night and while we ate our dinner he was screaming at us.  He'd stop for a minute when I'd hand him a piece of food to knaw on; then he'd start up again once he lost interest.  Sometimes it hurts my ears.

  • Em does that some, but not a whole lot anymore.  Instead of being embarrassed, appreciate it.  You have an adorable baby.  Soon they won't be babies anymore.

  • Bells is finding her voice as well.  I have to admit i shush her sometimes even though i know she doesnt understand is just trying out sounds. She has totally mastered the nails to chalk board tone.

this. I only tell him no when he gets really really really loud. It is funny because he stops screaming and starts screaming very quietly. It's hard not to laugh.

I just don't get when they say "but they're a baby". Yes he is a baby but at what point is he not? It's not like they just wake up one day and it's clear they are ready for discipline. (this is the only thing we say no for right now.)

  • I can't handle the ear piercing screams.  My husband has some hearing loss and he says when she starts it physically hurts his ears.

I've found that if I start talking to her in almost a whisper it gets her attention because it's different than what she's doing.  I tell her I'm using my inside voice and then tell her a story or what I'm doing.  It actually works.

I'm with you, this is the only thing we are attempting to correct (and i say that loosely as sometime i to giggle and call her my little pterodactyl) but I normally just shush and in a low voice say we don?t do that.  I also try to redirect her into her normal letter sounds

  • Y has been doing this a lot. She scared me the first time she screamed over the monitor, I thought she was hurt. I go rushing into her room and she's sitting in her crib giggling. Clearly she was proud of my response time. lol
