F/U to Well Visit

A had her one year well visit this morning. It was pretty awful. She was on to us from the start - began crying the moment we set her down on the exam table. Cried through all the measurements, temperature taking, heart rate check. Got her calmed down just in time for the finger prick lady to come in. She took the prick fairly well, but then they had to squeeze the blood out of her finger and into a vial. That was absolute torture to watch.

Pedi came in and A was ok until she had to lay on the exam table again. Freaked out during the ear/mouth/nose exam. I asked the pedi about her allergic-like reactions. She said it's too early to tell, but it's either an allergy or contact dermatitis. I'm leaning toward the latter because it seems like the redness she gets is only where the food has touched her. Also, she had seb. derm. as an infant, so I wouldn't be surprised to hear that she has sensitive skin. She did say to avoid those foods for now because continuing to give them to her could cause a worse/possibly deadly allergy. They won't do allergy testing until around age 3.

She wasn't too worried about her not talking yet, just said to keep on eye on it. She thought she might be tongue tied because A wouldn't stick her tongue out very far (she was too busy crying), but I know that her tongue goes out plenty far. She always sticks it out when she laughs/cackles so I'm not concerned. We also got the ok to start on WCM.

Pedi left and the nurse came back in. This time she brought back up. A got a total of 5 shots - 2 in one leg, 1 in the other leg, and one in each arm. I made DH hold her down because I just didn't have the heart to do that to her. They said to keep an extra eye on her with these shots. They have an increased risk of fever and possible rash. They also said to TRY not to medicate as it's been proven to decrease the effectiveness of this round of shots.

Here are her stats:

9 Months - 20 lbs, 28 inches

1 Year - 21 lbs, 29.5 inches

She didn't give percentiles, but said she's still above average.
