JT is super sporadic with it (and hasn't done it in the past few days at all). When he does it it is sometimes to himself when he's sitting in the high chair and I'm right next to him. Not sure if that counts! In other words, I don't think he knows what it means when he makes that motion with his hands.
She was doing it for a little while and then stopped completely. Now she waves with her hand in a pointing position. It's hard to teach her because she doesn't really say bye to anyone ever. DH leaves the house at 5am, so there aren't many opportunities.

If Jay is in one room and I am walking away for a second, I will wave and say bye-bye. He waves back. Or if I have to go into the bathroom, I will wave bye bye and then shut the door.
DD has a bright future as a greeter at Walmart. We were in the grocery store and she was waving to everyone as we walked around. Then she waved goodbye to my mom's friend who had already left. So basically, to the door.
Re: Waving bye
I dont think she knows the concept of waving and "bye" yet.
But, I can just say the word "Hi" to her sometimes, and she will start waving. She is big on waving hello, with a giant toothy grin to follow.
Jay is doing it most of the time now. As well as waving HI. But once in a while there is a day where he will not do it at all.
