When did you start to use the belly band?

Or buy maternity pants? My looser pants are ok, but I wore some of my more fitted pants today and I'm feeling like they need to be unbuttoned. Surely that can't be an issue yet, right?

Re: When did you start to use the belly band?

  • 1st pregnancy - i didn't use one but got some maternity pants for comfort around 13-ish weeks (i think).  before that, i just used the rubber band trick.

this pregnancy - i started wearing the belly band at about 8-9 weeks.  crazy, i know.

  • Yeah, don't tell yourself you don't need X yet--just be comfortable!! There's some bloating/water retention that happens early in the first tri, so next week or the week after you might feel "smaller" than you do now.

The rubber band trick is a great one. I used the Bella Band at some point around 12 weeks --it was helpful but not great--I was constantly hitching my pants up. I actually wore a pair of non-preg jeans until the day I delivered--they were True Religion and sat really low. Any of your higher waisted pants will probably be less comfortable.

  • I lasted 6 weeks. Yeah, 6 weeks and that almost killed me. My hips spread like there was no tomorrow and I couldn't even wear my jeans to buy one, I had to swear yoga pants that day to work and then I just gave up and went and bought one.

  • I started using a belly band pretty early, around 8 or 9 weeks, I believe. And it didn't last long. I was in full blown maternity pants by the end of the first tri. No two people are alike. Some wear their own clothes into 20 weeks, some need expansion relief immediately. :-)

  • My pants started not fitting at around 8 wks b/c of the awful, awful bloat and being short.  I tried the belly band for about 2 wks, but then I ordered some gap maternity jeans /slacks online during one of their big sales and once I got those, I gave up the bella band.  It was SOO much more comfortable to me, especially in the bloat period.  Oh, the other thing (which prob isn't as applicable now), is that the bella band made me hot.  The maternity pants I got were those low rise one (not full coverage), so they look most like regular jeans and left my belly area exposed.  I'm still wearing them now and they are my pref over the full coverage pants.

  • belly band - week 8.

maternity pants - sometime in the later part of the 2nd trimester

  • The first time I remember using the belly band was at the NT scan so 12 weeks. It didn't last long though and I was in maternity pants shortly after that. They are just SO comfortable once I tried on a par it was over Wink

  • I have done the rubber band trick for a long time.  I tried the belly band last time and hated it.  I hoped this time would be different...nope.  Still hate it.

I went into maternity pants around 27 weeks (I think)  Maybe even the last week or so.

I would try the rubber band trick for a while before thinking of purchasing anything.

I found leggings have been really comfortable until very recently--and they are only uncomfortable in the car for extended periods of time.

  • I never did the belly band, but I did the rubber band trick for a while.  I bought maternity pants at 6 weeks and wore them, but I would say I didn't really need anything until about 10-12 weeks.  I wasn't showing, but I carried really really low and it was just SO uncomfortable to wear regular pants.
  • I did the rubber band trick for as long as I could as I didn't really like the belly band.

I don't remember exactly how long, like 12weeks or so.
