C-sections

What are you wearing after c-section?

With DS1 I just wore the hospital gown, but I think I may feel better in my own clothes, but at the same time don't want to ruin anything with blood.

Re: What are you wearing after c-section?

  • I never get the whole ruining with blood....if you wear pads usually it isn't that bad.  Also, if you ever get blood on anything...before you wash it put some hydrogen peroxide on it.  Then wash.  It comes right out.

But I wear the gown for the first 24 hours until i can get up and take a shower than I wear my own nightgowns, etc.  I got some comfy, fairly cheap ones at lands end.

  • Like the pp said, I wore my hospital gown until I was able to get up and shower. After that I wore comfy yoga pants and hoodies/sweatshirts.

  • I wore my own nursing gowns after.  It felt so good to get out of the oversized hospital gown.  I wore yoga pants home and still wear them most days.

  • Hospital gown first day, lounge-y clothes there after.  With #2, I bought a nice pant and top nursing PJ set and wore loungy pants and nursing tanks.  With DS, just loungy pants and nursing tanks.

  • I didn't bleed on my clothes. I wore yoga pants and a t-shirt with a nursing tank under that.

  • I just wore hospital gowns until the day of my discharge. Nurses were constantly checking my pad for bleeding and looking at my incision. It was much easier to stay in the gown. They brought me a fresh one each day.

  • I wore the hospital gown for the first two days - I was then given the OK to shower. Once I was able to shower I wore my own clothing.

For the first 2-3 days I wore yoga pants and nursing tanks. Now that I have lost a little bit of weight and fell a whole heck of a lot lot better I just wear my smaller maternity pants and regular t-shirts/tank tops.

I just use regular pads during the day and the longer pads for night and havent had a problem with ruining any clothing. I did bleed thru once at night - not bc it was heavy but because somehow it scrunched up - and I just used a little peroxide and cold water and it came out just fine.

  • I wore a hospital gown during my entire stay, and left in PJ pants and a loose top
  • In the hospital I wore the gown the whole time. It was just easier with them checking my incision and trying to BF.

At home, I am still wearing yoga pants or sweatpants and some pre pregnancy shirts.

  • I wore the hospital gown until I was able to get up and move around on my own and they removed the catheter. At that point, they let me take a shower, and I put on my own pjs. I had a nursing gown and robe with me, and I had a pj set that was lounge pants and a nursing top. I think I wore the gown and robe most of the time.

I did have some big granny panties that I didn't care about to put my gigantic pads on. I used overnight Always extra long pads because they seemed to fit better and feel better than the gigantic post partum pads the hospital provided, which bunched up a whole lot and were annoying.
