Hello! I just found out I was pregnant with #2 and I need to find an OB who is VBAC friendly. I actually got some names already, I didn't expect to be pregnant right away, and so far 2 said they don't do VBAC's anymore and the one who is VBAC supportive is on maternity leave for a few more weeks. I made an appt with her on 02/09, but do you think I should wait that long to see if I want to go with her? I am worried she won't want to do it and then I will be about 8 weeks along and still looking for a Dr. Should I make another appointment in the meantime with someone else to keep some options open? I just don't know how worried I should be and if I should be talking to a bunch of doctors. Any thoughts?
Re: Question- First Post
I wouldn't worry about being 8 weeks and still looking for a provider. You'll have plenty of time to keep looking, if it doesn't work out. Have you spoken with a receptionist or someone familiar with her practice policies?
In the mean time, you could always call around and talk to office staff at other practices. Most will answer basic questions over the phone.
You should also reach out to your local ICAN. They will be able to tell you which hospitals and practices would be favorable to a VBAC.
I agree that you don't need to feel concerned if you haven't found your perfect provider by 8 weeks. I think I was 14-15 weeks when I finally settled on my midwife and I know people on this board were much farther than that.
I agree that you should check with ICAN to see if they can give you a list of current VBAC friendly people.
Welcome to the board!
DS2 - Oct 2010 (my VBAC baby!)
I'm not released to an OB until 10 weeks. I'd think 8 weeks is fine.
Good luck!
I stressed my whole pregnancy about it, but reading stories on here really helped. I also told my Dr. every visit how important it was to VBAC so when the time came he already knew. Good luck!!
