Out of curiosity, how long after surgery did you take your first poop. How bad did it hurt? It feels like my incision is going to tear apart when I toot let alone poop, since the last time I went was on the 5th. I don't know if its because they had to put me under or because I'm scared shitless (no pun intended) to go so I just don't. Thanks in advance... Sorry if it's TMI, but once you go through labour, nothing is TMI anymore!!!!
Re: C-section Mamas
P.S. - Narcotic pain killers can really constipate you, too. Lots of water and moving around as soon as you can seemed to help.
OMG its so scary to go after .... Even when I pee I put a pad on my incision and press firm just in case...
Drink tons of water and eat fiber rich foods.... take a paper or your phone and just sit there for half an hour and it'll come trust me.. I went the second day.. Good luck, you'll feel so much better after.
It was about 6 days PP and to be brutally honest it hurt so bad! I was even taking Colace since the c-section and it was still painful. The worst part was that I didn't even go that much so I didn't get much relief.
The good news is that the first one was the worst. After I got through that it has become easier and easier to go. Now I am 100% normal in that area.
This was my BIGGEST concern after delivery - so valid a concern.
I had bowel movement trouble all during my pg - needed 6 oz of coffee and 2 doses of colace every day to stay normal.
Had my c/s Wed night so knew Thursday am was out of the question. When I still didn't go Friday, I made my concern clear to my nurse who was already giving me prescription stool softeners. She said to go ahead and take my colace as well, and DH was bringing me starbucks coffee. I was SO nervous Friday night b/c I knew nothing would happen Sat am and the last time I went 3 days with no stool it was pretty painful so I asked for a suppository to use if I couldn't go on Saturday (discharge day). Well, my nurse had a secret tea that she makes and brought it to me Friday night and the next morning, miraculously I went so I didn't have to use the suppository. And, it was painless. I need that recipe!! And if I track it down, I'll be sure to post it...LOL.
Basically, from reading other posts, I was totally prepared to go the suppository route if needed to prevent going more than 3 days with no bowel movement.
Good luck - I really feel for you.
with my first son it took me a week and didnt hurt all the ones after that hurt for about a month.
this one i actually went in the hospital, my 3rd day and it hurt alot.
