Sleep advice

So, our daughter had cholic (usually uncomfortable/crying from 9/10pm until 12/1, needing to be constantly soothed) up until last month and now her sleep schedule is totally off.  We cannot usually get her down until 12 or 1 am and then usually wakes up once and sometimes sleeps in close to noon.  Obviously she's got the wrong idea.  Any tricks we can attempt to get her back on the right track.  She's 5 months old tomorrow : )

Re: Sleep advice

  • I don't know if this works or not. I've read to keep it bright during the day and as dark as possible at night to get back on track. Only in this instant would I wake them up earlier to start getting back on track.

  • Do you reduce her stimulation in the evening?  Dim the lights, keep it quiet, low voices?  Does she have an evening routine?  I personally haven't done one, but I know with some babies it signals that sleep is coming.

My sister's DD had colic really bad until 7 months and those were techniques that worked for her.  She also found that swaddlng helped.  She is still swaddling at 8 months because she won't sleep without it.
