DD hates, and I mean hates, the nose sucker. She acts like I am killing her. So, I rarely do it anymore, especially if her nose is running and I can wipe it with a tissue and she isn't having much trouble drinking from the sippy.
She's been sick for 4 days, and this morning had a poopy diaper with tons of mucus in her stool. So, now I feel bad that I haven't been sucking.
Should I be doing it even though her nose is runny and seems to be draining just fine? She feels so bad these days that even to take her temperature on her temple is a fight.
Re: When to saline/suck?
Poor baby
My son isn't a fan of anything up his nose either, but a while back I got the Nose Frida after over a year of just having the good ol' bulb. HUGE improvement.
The improvement isn't in his reaction-bc he still hates it-but the tube doesn't actually go up their nose--just around the nasal opening, so I imagine it's a little more comfortable. THe other thing is that you get so much bang for your buck. I can totally clean out his nose in a couple of seconds instead of needing to repeatedly stick the blue bulb up there a million times to try and get it clean.
If you want to do some snot sucking, I highly recommend it. I think they sell it locally at WF.
DS hates both the saline spray and nose sucker too. my pedi said to try sucking if you can physically see snot, but just try once or twice. if you're not getting anything else out, stop, so you don't irritate their noses too much. and it's better to spray the saline even if you don't suck because it'll help thin it out and drain a little easier.
poor baby. hope she feels better soon!
