Baby Shower in Plymouth - suggestions please!

I'm hosting a baby shower for my sister this coming spring; she lives in Plymouth and I'm looking for suggestions of places!

Her bridal shower was at Isaac's (which I wasn't impressed with)
I've looked online at East Bay Grille, Pine Hills Country Club, Indian Pond Country Club...

She's not a 'let's play baby shower games' kind of girl - so I'm trying to find some where that isn't the usual suspect. I don't know if the Roo Bar or Black Raspberry Pub host functions?

Any suggestions would be appreciated...I'm not too familiar w/the area other than what's along the waterfront.

Re: Baby Shower in Plymouth - suggestions please!

  • Well...my rehearsal dinner was at East Bay Grille, which is one of my favorite restaurants, and my wedding was at Pine Hills.  I had great experiences with both places.  Between those two places, I would say it really depends on how many people you are having.  EBG has a room that they are able to close off for smaller functions (which is where we had our RD).  Pine Hills held 150 people very comfortably for my wedding, so if you aren't going to have a lot of people, it might look weird with only a few people in a small room.  We went to look at Indian Pond for our wedding and we liked the atmosphere, but didn't get much further than that because it was too pricey for us.  A restaurant I love, that most certainly falls under the unusual suspect category, is the British Beer Company.  There is one in S. Plymouth (aka Cedarville).  I'm not really sure if they host functions, but they do have rooms with doors that you could close off to the general public.

    Good luck!!

  • I was looking at the Plymouth Yacht Club (my sister and her husband have gotten into boating the last year and a half) - do you happen to know anything about that location? They use Plymouth Bay Catering exclusively...

She had her rehearsal dinner at the BBC - definitely a great place!

  • BreK-- I went to a wedding there and it was AMAZING. The catering was delish and it was small enough to feel intimate without feeling too small.

OP, I had mine at East Bay Grille, I also am not a "usual" mama and I loved it. The food is wonderful and they blocked off part of it, so it was just us.  We had cocktails/mocktails and apps and it was more laid back.

  • I work at Plimoth Plantation, and our chefs and function staff are great. We do all sorts of catering events on site. Hope it helps. Good Luck.
