What do you pay for a Nanny? (Decatur area)

My DH and I both work out of our house. He is at home 100% of the time but I do travel about 60% of the time. We are thinking we would like to have a nanny come to our house 3-4 days a week but have no idea what this would normally run. If we could find one that is willing to help with dishes/laundry/etc that would be AMAZING (and obviously increase the cost)! So my questions are, what do you pay for in (your) home child care and what does it include (i.e. feeding nanny, cleaning house, gas, etc)? TIA!

Re: What do you pay for a Nanny? (Decatur area)

  • We live in Cumming, so a different area of town. We had a nanny until ds was almost 3. We paid $550/week cash for 9:00-5:30 care for 5 days in our home. We also paid two weeks vacation, paid her anytime we were gone out of town and gave her an extra paycheck at Christmas. She took care of ds, did our laundry and did our housekeeping (cleaned bathrooms, floors, etc).

  • we did a nanny share a few years back and for two kids we paid $16/hr in Decatur.  I think the rate for one kid is $12-14/hr.  on the higher end if you want them to do cleaning and such.

  • Average is 10-14 depending on experience and duties to be performed. Just doing baby related cleaning, meal prep is expected. If you want help with other cleaning and errands, go towards the higher end. Help with laundry is a godsend!
