I just talked to a local bakery about our gender cake party.  With DD DH and I found out at the ultrasound what the sex was.  This time we thought it would be fun to have a cake party and share the news with everyone.  I was a little hesitant at first, but now I'm getting excited about it.  It is still quite a few weeks away, but I'm still excited.  Party!!!

    Call me lame but what is a gender cake party?  This was not something I heard about during my pg with DD.

    A gender cake party is a get together where we reveal the sex of the baby.  At the ultasound the tech writes the gender on a peice of paper and puts it in an evelope, we then bring the envelope to the bakery and they make a cake dying the cake either blue or pink depending on the gender and we cut it in front of everyone.

    I hadn't heard about it until the end of my first pregnancy.

    We attended a gender reveal party for our neighbors a few months ago!  It was amazing to be there all together and watch them cut into the cake and find out that they were having a BOY, surrounded by friends and family.  I will never forget the look on the mommy-to-be's face as she realized she would have a son.  Truly amazing!
