ECV and breech baby update

I went to the hospital yesterday to do the procedure and then they were going to start induction. By some miracle the baby flipped on his own so we didnt have to do the procedure. I figured since they were going to induce me and Im 40 weeks that they would do so. The baby is not engaged in my pelvis so there is a chance he could turn back around. The Dr said he wants to wait to induce now?? Im still completely closed and 20% effaced. He believes Im so closed and not effacing because the baby is just floating around and there is no pressure on my cervix. What makes him think I am all of a sudden going to start dialating and effacing if he is still not engaged into my pelvis? What if he turns back breech? I think we should have induced but what the hell do I know. Anyway here is an update. Thank you for your help on my questions about the procedure. It was so hard to leave the hospital last night when the Dr told me yesterday morning Id have a baby by morning and with the baby not engaged into my pelvis I dont have much hope its going to happen naturally. Im so dissapointed.

    I'm totally lurking from April, but I wanted to chime in. I had an ECV with my DS1. Mine was unsuccessful, so they scheduled my c-section for a week later (I was 37 weeks for my ECV, 38.5 for the c/s (I know they don't do them that early anymore, this was almost 6 years ago). If baby isn't engaged, there is a chance that the induction wouldn't work anyway, and it would be a long, possibly painful process for you. Hopefully in the next few days, baby will engage and you'll be able to go into labor on your own. Good luck!

    I'm sorry you didn't leave with a baby; I'm sure that was frustrating...the good news is that he turned, and it's very likely he will not turn back to breech. Now, you can likely go into labor on your own and have a much smoother delivery. Good luck!!

    I know it's frustrating, but now that baby has flipped, it is much less likely for him to go back breech, so that is a good thing! If you are not engaged or effacing, an induction has a much higher chance of failing and ending in a c-section so your doctor is doing you a favor by not letting you go through all that when the possibility is so high that you'll go into labor on your own! GL!!
