I've got a little more variety this week, which makes me happy. PIP your cute lunches! I love seeing the smattering of participation. I promise you, your child will appreciate even the smallest effort!
A New Year's Day lunch, with a clock (striking 11:05?). Mini sandwiches, sugar snap pea "fireworks" (her fave and she asked for more!), a clock made out of a pizzelle cookie and dried mango, plus a Babybel cheese.
Breakfast for lunch, served in our new Lego box (from The Container store and yes, it's food safe and dishwasher safe). This box is rather large and contains a bowl of oatmeal with a little container of cinnamon sugar, half a banana, a gingerbread cookie and a mini Lego container with dried mangoes.
A frog lunch in our adorable frog container. Leftovers in the left side - rice and sweet & sour meatballs on bone picks, plus a mini apple, snap peas and a little container with ???. She loved the rice and meatballs at dinner ... and didn't touch them for lunch, but she will always eat the fruit.
It was dinosaur day at the library, so I used that theme for lunch. More snap peas, a homemade sealed sandwich with chicken salad inside (I was surprised that DD ate this), a cheesy dinosaur with party hat pick, dehydrated strawberries, a Hershey's kiss treat, and dinosaur chopsticks for picking up the peas (from Target a few years ago).
Dogs! On the left is a triple-decker sandwich topped with Swiss cheese, strawberries with dog picks, in the cute little dog container is a Babybel cheese, plus a little square of coconut blondie. This was a large lunch but DD ate every bite! The letter picks were a huge hit because DD can read our dogs' names. This lunch was served in a steel pencil box with lots of silicone containers from allthingsforsale.com (where I get most of my bento supplies).
Re: *Cute lunch check-in*
I have absolutely nothing to contribute but wanted to say that I'm jaw droppingly amazed that you still pull this kinda thing off with a new born in tow.
You're my hero Bright!
Dana's so lucky to have such a cool Mom.
Total score: 6 pregnancies, 5 losses, 2 amazing blessings that I'm thankful for every single day.
I have a question regarding vegetable cutters. DD chose Hello Kitty for her upcoming birthday party. Since there will only be 6 kids max I'm doing little reusable but inexpensive tupperware like bento box lunches for the kids. I ordered a Hello Kitty sandwich cutter and these metal veggie cutter things that are pretty tiny. If I were to cut carrots for example do I just make thin slices and then stamp out the shapes? Or is there a more efficient way to go about this?
And your lunches look great has always.
While I have never used those cutters, from the bento sites that I read, my understanding is that you can either cut thinly sliced raw vegetables as you suggested, or else give them a light steam first.
I've been wanting to get a Hello Kitty sandwich press for a long time! I hope your DD loves her party! I know that this lady has a bunch of HK bentos if you search her site: https://happylittlebento.blogspot.com/
Thanks for the link! I had to stop myself from buying a Hello Kitty rice ball press.
