Success after IF

JCP related: people are a-holes

So, I placed my order with my promo code and had a quick question, so I called the 1-800# to ask. The rep and I were chatting: people have been calling all night since they received the email and SCREAMING at JCP. The $50 credit wasn't enough, blah, blah.  This nice girl has been cursed out several times.

I think JCP went above and beyond. They certainly could have sent an email saying it was an error, too bad, so sad.

I really wish the C/S reps had the ability to take the $50 code away from nyone who complains.  I've been out of retail for 3+ years, so I tend to forget what a**holes people can be.

  • That is just awful!  People need to learn how to be gracious.

  • Oh I know!  You should see the people still complaining on their FB page.  I finally got sick of seeing all the complaints and started telling people what ungrateful @sses they are.  People are so rude!  Someone just gave them $50 for nothing and all they can do is b!tch and complain about how they took to long to get it to them or how they didn't get their stupid plastic table.  It is amazing how entitled people are these days.

  • That's really insane. :(  $50 for FREE for not getting a $20 item and they're complaining?  *IF* anything I could see a $20 code, but $50 is crazy generous, especially since you don't have to spend anything above that.  That makes me upset with (some of) humanity. :(

I wonder how many people actually bought tables that day?  At some point as the day went on it was too good to be true.  And don't they see that they could spend their $50 on another table?  It's just a week delay; not that many people needed them this week for January picnics after all....

    How obnoxious. :(

JCP said they sold 10,000 tables that day according to the info I've seen.  Now of course not everyone just bought one table so it wasn't 10,000 people, but the long and short of it is they sold a lot of tables.

Wow.  I didn't realize until after I had bought mine that it had been posted in as many places as it had been.  It was a great deal, but it was just a plastic table out of season, LOL.  I wouldn't compare it to other great deals gone awry such as the Marathon thing at Target a few years ago, you know?  That's too bad -- $50 each is a HUGE concession on their part with that many people involved and with $50 as the minimum order amount, i.e. potentially no money spent on those orders.

They must be expecting that plenty of people won't use their credit since wouldn't buying a $60 table, even with shipping, be less money spent than the original deal?  Limited supply, yes, but I'd think they could just backorder the original table for people who were really upset and JCP would be out less money than the $50!?!

  • People need to realize many deals like this one have turned out too bad, so sad...and get a grip.  I don't work in retail but I work in service to others (a nurse).  When people get upset I tell them I don't make the rules (usually high school kids with attitude)...I try to always remember that when talking to anyone in a service position...they did not make the rules.
  • What is funny is JCP has a kids picnic table and umbrella listed for sale for $60. SO if people are biching about not getting a table, they could still get one for $10 using the $50 credit.

As someone dealing with the public - some people just like to complain, no matter what you do they will bich.

A lot of years and a million tears finally led me to you.

  • Target sure as hell didn't offer me a $50 credit for the Britax carseat they priced incorrectly and had to cancel my order.  JCP did a great job.  People ARE a-holes for sure.

Target gave $25, but I was still annoyed with a large ticket item like that since in fact we truly needed 2 convertible seats and had to spend a lot more elsewhere x2!  With JCP I think $50 on a smaller item is SO generous (an item which we could have used though, for sure).  Only bummer is that the JCP credit expires and the Target one didn't if I recall correctly.
